Due to the impact of ICT (Information and communication technology) print resources have also been transformed into electronic resources. E-journals keep the prominent place among e-resources and a researcher usually feels the need of latest research in the form of e-articles published in e-journals all around the globe. Sharing of this e-literature has become essential among libraries at state, national and international level to fulfil its clientele need. This activity is now being done by consortia based activities. Thus, various types of consortia have been developed with their sole features. In India various prominent consortia like UGC-Infonet, CSIR, INDEST, CeRA, DAE, ISRO, IIM consortium and such other types of consortia are playing major role in enhancing the use and success of e-journals. In Agricultural Universities CeRA is promoting the use of e-journals among scholar community due to its special features.

Success of a nation in all spheres depends basically on the qualities and the output of the agricultural sector. But it would be wrong to think that everything can be grown anywhere at any time. The changing weather pattern, soil, ideal crops in the right place, post-harvest storage, good market outlets gluts and scarcity, pests and diseases are only a few of the several problems which would mean the difference between success and failure. Indian agriculture witnessed a depressing condition during the 1950's and 1960's. The scientific method of cultivation was not familiar to the farmers and they largely depended on old and obsolete methods of cultivation. Agriculture had to take new directions in the quest for greater agricultural production and the scene of Indian agriculture moved gradually to the threshold of technological breakthrough. These technical advancements showed a remarkable efficiency in agriculture and made it possible to raise the production of labour and capital making a superior production function.

High-speed routers play an important role in the Internet. A main hindrance to high-speed router design is itsswitch architecture. It concerns with how packets are moved from switch input ports to output ports. The switcharchitecture can be classified as Output-Queued and Input-Queued switches. It is well known that Output-Queued switches can achieve optimal delay-throughput performance. Output-queued switches are generallyimpractical for high-speed implementation because of high speed needed for both switch fabric and output portbuffers. Input-queued switch architecture becomes the alternative since it needs no (or little) speedup. Inputqueuing is becoming increasingly used for high bandwidth switches and routers. In an input-queued switch, each input port can send at most one packet and each output port can at most receive one packet in each timeslot. In VOQ each input port maintains a separate queue for each output port. It has been shown that VOQ canachieve 100% throughput performance with an effective scheduling algorithm. It addresses a common problemknown as Head-Of-Line (HOL) blocking. The scheduling problem is equivalent to the matching problem in abipartite graph.

Paper seeks to investigate how far the interactivity dimensions - as proposed by Ha and James (1998) and empirically validated by Chen and Yen (2004) using business websites - are applicable to library website. It also attempts to frame an online interactivity model, depicting the effect of interactivity dimensions on library website quality. The analysis revealed the way interactivity dimensions affects quality of website and the study suggests that the four interactivity dimensions - reciprocal communication, connectedness, information collection, and playfulness - have considerable impact on the quality of library website. The online interactivity model deduced from the study will help librarians to determine the relationships of four independent variables (dimensions of interactivity) with the dependent variable (website quality). The findings will help researchers, librarians and web developers alike to measure qualitatively the effect of interactivity dimensions on library website quality which will guide them in developing an interactive library website to attract users towards the library.

Ann Libr Inf Stud 2012, 59(4), 240-6.
University libraries strive to provide information resources in both print and non-print formats. Library managers and administrators need to strike a balance between access and security of the resources. This paper examines a number of published literatures on library security, in particular, the different incidences of theft and mutilation as they relate to print collections in university libraries. Major forms of theft and mutilation identified from the literature includes theft by patrons and insider theft, tearing of book pages, writing on the pages of the books and marking of books content, all of which could temper with the actual subject matter of the book materials. The strategic and managerial measures for effective collection protection of library collections are also identified, evaluated and reported. The paper recommends the implementation of collection security management plan as a viable way of protection against theft and mutilation of materials in university libraries. The plan should include policy formulation and implementation, user awareness campaign, education and training of staff on the protection of collections. The paper concludes by proposing 'a framework for action which could serve as a guide for university librarians and stakeholders to ensure the protection of their library collection. In addition, it is hoped that it will serve as means of reawakening and reinforcing the awareness of university management aboutcollection security breaches.

This study examines the differences between Web of Science and Google Scholar in the citation counting, citation ranking of 7 Iranian's English Journals indexed in JCR, and investigates whether there is any relationship between their impact factors, number of articles and the rate of citations they get. Furthermore, their visibility in international level is determined. According to the findings, there is not any significant difference between the citations rate in GS and ISI. Among these journals JISC received the most citations in ISI WOS and IJER received the most citations in GS. In both GS and WOS databases, the majority of citations to the articles came from Asia, Europe, and America respectively and the minimum rate of citations related to Africa and Australia in GS and WOS orderly. In country level, in both databases the most rate of citations were journal self citations and related to Iran, in GS it followed by US and UK but in WOS it followed by India and china. In GS there is a negative relationship between the number of Citations and the number of articles. Unlike in Google Scholar database, the correlation between citations and journal impact factor is significant in ISI database. It means that the more the impact factor a journal had the more citations it received in ISI database; but this fact is not true in GS database.

However, data source for link analysis from commercial search engines has been limited to Yahoo! alone in recent years and even this data source is likely to disappear in the near future. We need to find alternative sources for link analysis. This paper explorers an alternative data source, "Sites Linking In" at Alexa Internet. The paper discussed the nature and the characteristics of this data source and reported a study that compared this inlink data with that from Yahoo! Site Explorer. The study found that the inlink data from Alexa and Yahoo! are highly correlated and that Alexa data can potentially replace Yahoo! data for inlink analysis. Based on these findings, "Sites Linking In" is proposed as an alternative inlink data source if Yahoo! inlink data become unavailable in future.

Festschrift is a book, usually edited by some colleagues, to honour an academic. It contains contributions by colleagues and (former) students. In this paper we give special attention to "The Web of Knowledge", a festschrift edited by Blaise Cronin and Helen Atkins, in honour of Eugene Garfield's seventy-fifth birthday. We study its contents and citation history. Also ISSI's festschrift series, honouring Tibor Braun, Olle Persson, Peter Ingwersen and Manfred Bonitz is discussed. It is observed that generally contributions to festschrifts are not highly cited, yet it is not true that they are virtually uncited. In particular, "The Web of Knowledge" is cited on the same level as the better journals in library and information science.
