In vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs), information dissemination plays vital role in establishing the cooperation among the vehicles. This cooperation and information exchange is needed for proper performance of safety and other VANET applications. Broadcasting is the most suitable method for information dissemination over the network. The simplicity of the broadcast mechanism in such a highly dense and mobile network leads to network contention, broadcast storm and network partition problem. To keep all nodes updated and gather neighbourhood information broadcasting protocol use beacon messages. A non-trivial scientific contribution is required in broadcasting techniques to cater to the need of a network. In this paper, we establish a system model and parameters responsible for efficient information dissemination for VANETs. We implemented three major techniques for information dissemination which are, simple flooding, counter-based and probability-based techniques. These three techniques are simulated with established parameters. The work also analysed the impact of beaconing in the network. The simulation is carried out on Veins framework and the results are then analysed on the basis of established parameters. The analysis of result shows that an integrated approach will suit the needs whereas the use of independent techniques might not yield the result which we expect. The paper concludes by outlining the future research directions in information dissemination in VANET.

Ind J Pub Health 2020, 64(2), 191-7.
Built environment characteristics in the neighborhood are of utmost priority for a healthy lifestyle in the fast‑urbanizing countries. These characteristics are closely linked to the disease burden and challenges in low‑ and middle‑income countries (LMICs), which have been unexplored using open‑source data. The present technology offers online resources and open source software that enable researchers to explore built environment characteristics with health and allied phenomena. This article intends to delineate methods to capture available and accessible objective built environment variables for a state in India and determine their distribution across the state. Built environment variables such as population density and residential density were collated from the Census of India. Safety from crime and traffic were captured as crime rates and pedestrian accident rates, respectively, acquired from State Crime Records Bureau. Greenness, built‑up density, and land slope were gathered from open‑source satellite imagery repository. Road intersection density was derived from Open Street Map. Processing and analysis differed for each dataset depending on its source and nature. Each variable showed a distinct pattern acrossthe state. Population and residential density were found to be closely related to each other across both districts and sub districts. They were both positively related to crime rates, pedestrian accident rates, built‑up density, and intersection density, whereas negatively related to land slope and greenness across the subdistricts. Delineating the distribution of built environment variables using available and open‑source data in resource‑poor settings is a first in public health research among LMICs. Cost‑effectiveness and reproducible nature of open‑source solutions could equip researchers in resource‑poor settings to identify built environment characteristics and patterns across regions.

Indian J Community Med 2018, 43(2), 107-12.
In India, integrated biological and behavioral surveillance was carried out in 2014–2015 among high-risk key population as a part of second-generation HIV surveillance system. Computer-assisted personal interviewing and integrated information management system were used for the first time in this large national field based survey. We evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of technology use in this survey. Mixed methods comprising of the key informant’s interviews and structured data collected from field interviewers were used to do the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats analysis with defined attributes. Despite the challenges, the technology use in this survey was a huge success with respect to data coverage, response rates, real-time data, and acceptance by respondents. However, such techniques require more focus on the competency of human resource, training, and concurrent evaluation systems to get better data quality, time adherence, and effective use of technology. The recommendations resulted from this analysis will help for strategic management while designing such systems in field‑based community surveys.

The advancement of medical knowledge is quint-essentially based on the authentic and reliable scientific research and publications. This is in addition to the recently mandated requirement of original research publications in indexed journals to ensure career progression in academic/medical institutions, thus the need for 'publications' in scientific medical scholarly journals has increased substantially. On the other hand, this has given an unparalleled rise in the number of stand alone journals and publishers “Predatory” is the term, who are ready to process the manuscripts on priority with almost guaranteed publication, at a cost, but having no credibility to the research being published. To foster awareness creation among students at the post-graduate level and for faculty of medical colleges and research institutions, it has become very important to avoid these predatory journals. It is high time that the thinking among researchers of 'Publish or Perish' be changed to 'Publish and Flourish' by adopting stringent measures which have evolved over time to curtail this birch of predatory publishing. Researchers should now take the road less travelled. This review article aims to highlight all the relevant and important points about the threats posed by predatory journals and also suggests possible ways to overcome them.

This paper discusses teenagers’ need of library resources and library services in the public libraries in Iran. Descriptive method is used and a researcher-made questionnaire formed the major instrument for data gathering. Descriptive and inferential statistics are applied. It found that teenagers’ need is more textbooks than other resources, of course their first priority is educational books. It means that the teenagers interest to educational books, but it wasn’t their main need. Most used library services was familiarity to library while adolescents need to expand and improve lending services. Finally, it was concluded that libraries were less successful in meeting the teenagers’ need based on their priorities. Therefore, libraries need to be equally important in the development of their resources and services based on the priorities and needs. In this way, their needs are answered, and according to their priority, the library will answer their leisure time according to teenagers’ interest.

DESIDOC J Libr Inf Technol 2018, 38(3), 213-20.
Electronic information resources are increasingly become an important component of the collection-building activities of libraries. This paper attempts to understand how far the licenses of commercial publishers support resource optimisation in general and what other important issues that are usually ignored by publishers, knowingly or unknowingly, but are essential for better resource optimisation. Five international publishers namely Elsevier, EBSCO, Sage, Springer, and Taylor & Francis were identified and analysed their agreements that are available in public domain with some model agreements like Liblicense model and model license developed by John Cox Associate. Study indicates that core part of the negotiations still remain price, IP access, display, ILL/document supply, etc. while important issues like perpetual access, archiving, self-archiving, copy of individual articles and share the same for non-commercial use by authorised users were minor issues of the contract. Furthermore, most of the obligations of the publishers that are identified as core issues in Liblicense model are also absent in commercial publishers’ license. A greater awareness of this to library managers is essential. They must be acquainted with the clause of the license agreement of commercial publishers and must negotiate to that extent so that the access should be uninterrupted.

Spam e-mail and calls from the predatory publishers are very similar in purpose: they are deceptive and produce material losses. Moreover, the predatory publishers show evolving strategies to lure potential victims, as their number increases. In an effort to help researchers defending against their constant menace, this article aims to identify a set of common features of spam e-mail and calls from predatory publishers. The methodology consisted of a comparative analysis of data found on the Internet and e-mails received at several addresses during December 2017 – January 2018. The results indicate that concealed, fake or disguised identity of the sender and/or of the message, mass mailing, missing or useless opt-out option and an obvious commercial character are the most prominent common features. Moreover, the location of predatory publishers is well disguised; the analysis of the real location, found using web-based tools, suggests a joint management or at least a concerted action of several publishers, and raises additional questions related to the reasons of masking the true location. From a theoretical standpoint, the results show, once again, that predatory publishers are a part of the worldwide scam, and should be ‘convicted’ in a similar way, including the means of legal actions. From a practical perspective, distinct recommendations were phrased for researchers, policy makers, libraries, and future research.

Data and Information safety is an act of shielding records and information systems from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, change or destruction. Currently, aside from the army and institutional records safety, man or woman records safety is very essential. If person data safety is neglected, it can reason intangible harm and monetary loss. In this take a look at, a novel technique which include photo primarily based data hiding at the side of textual content to speech conversion gadget application has been evolved and examined to decorate records safety. This software is intended to provide a extra relaxed way of verbal exchange for emails which play an essential function in personal facts switch. Text hiding in Image is the exercise of concealing a report, message, picture, or video within some other report, message, photograph, or video. It benefits from the reality that the incidence of a few neighborhood features within the photo demonstrates terrific patterns for figuring out the payload of the duvet photo sub-regions based on Human Visual System (HVS). In this project we have proposed a novel technique for the secure data transmission for Military use and Police use with the help of steganography and social media or email. We have encoded secret data and sent it through Whatsapp and similar with facebook uploads, while at the remote receiver end we have decoded the image to get the original data. Similarly we have added the text to speech conversion process along with the decoder portion where the decoded message can be converted into speech for ease of access of the data and for emergency notification.

Recommendation systems are extensively used for suggesting new items to users and play an important role in the discovery of relevant new items, be it books, movies or music. An effective recommendation system should provide heterogeneous results and should not be biased towards only the most popular items. Books are particularly well suited to content based filtering as they are now widely available in digital formats which can allow various text mining approaches to dig out content related information. This paper presents a framework to develop a content based recommendation system for books which can further be integrated with a collaborative filtering model. The proposed content based recommender will use the Named Entities as the basic criteria to rank books and give recommendations
