Current trend of digitization activities in India is continued to be in fragmentary way focusing primarily on preservation of valuable printed resources available in different libraries. Besides the speed of growth of commercial e-publications worldwide and similar technological innovation over the last decade raised a few questions on the very role of libraries as practiced over a century. Information supplied through libraries can also be made available to users direct by the producers. Google, Amazon and others have joined in the game of supplying information including digitized multimedia resources through internet access supported by the proliferation of e-book reader and other devices. Many higher academic and research institutions have accepted these and other social network services, like Web 2.0 tools, to allow access to their own digitized resources. It was suggested that the National Mission for Libraries may recommend for the National Library of India to take the leading role of coordinating all individual efforts, to constitute a national digital library of India that would be in a position to offer comprehensive digitized India related information to all concern. To be able of undertaking such a task the new generation of librarians would require to be defined differently.

The present study was conducted to know about the different teaching methods used and the extent of the use of computers and Internet by teachers in formal classroom teaching at the undergraduate level. A questionnaire-based study was conducted among all the available teachers working at S.R.M.S. Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly (UP), between March 2012 and June 2012. Total number of medical teachers participated in the study was 142. Besides this, a feedback from the students was also taken regarding their preference for different teaching methods; the number of students was 148. A vast majority of teachers (83.09%) were found using computers and Internet in teaching medical students. Moreover, this use is more frequently seen among the teachers of younger age, with a significant statistical correlation between the computer and Internet use and the younger age of teachers (P-value of 0.045). However, the most significant finding was that most students still prefer blackboard teaching for better understanding the subject. Use of computers and Internet has increased tremendously in medical education.

This paper focuses on the evaluation of book collection in the engineering in Sri Venkateswara University Library. Users' opinions on availability of latest editions, adequacy of subject books, availability of multiple copies and the satisfaction regarding infrastructural facilities, adequacy of reference collection, periodical collection, and thesis collection are collected using a questionnaire. Analysis of results shows that the majority of the users (69.57%) do not visit the library daily due to the non-availability of needed material in the library. A high percentage of users (36.52%) are spending from 2 to 4 hours of time per week in the library. The majority of the users (68.26%) replied that books/reference books in the library are insufficient. The majority of the users (61.30%) replied that the periodical collection in the library is sufficient. The majority of the users (85.22%) replied that newspapers subscribed in the library are sufficient of their needs. The majority of the users (86.96%) opined that the books of latest editions are not available in the library. A high percentage of users (39.57%) are using the books written by Indian authors mostly. A high percentage of users (45.22%) indicated that the library books on their subject are adequate. The majority of users indicated that the multiple copies for important titles are not adequate either for consultation within the library (53.91%) or for borrowing (80.43%). A high percentage of users (33.91%) depend from 50 to 75% on library books. Nearly half of the users (49.57%) are getting the required reading materials by purchasing them personally when they are not available in the library. More than half of the users (52.17%) responded that the books and other materials are arranged systematically on the shelves. The majority of the users (78.70%) replied that the library authorities are not conducting orientation programme. The majority of the users (83.48%) expressed that the library provides reference service. The majority of users are satisfied with ventilation (76.09%), furniture (68.7%), lighting (69.13%), study hall (67.83%), drinking water facility (77.-39%) and toilets (53.91%). It ends with major findings and the few recommendations that will help make the collection in engineering suitable for future users.

Study deals about the bibliometric analysis of 221 papers of LIBRI Journals during the year 2001 to 2009. The study focuses on various aspects of LIBRI journal such as its year-wise distribution of papers, authorship pattern, subjectwise distribution of papers, geographical distribution, citation pattern and length of papers. The study shows that out of 221 papers single authors contributed 124 (56.10%) articles while rest of 97 (43.90%) were contributed by joint authors. Subjectwise distribution is maximum (37%) in the field of Public/Digital/Academic Libraries. India ranks at 11th position with 4 publications which shows its lower share in this journal. The average number of citation per article and the mean page length of all the papers during the year 2001 to 2009 are found 2.004 and 11.10 respectively. However the problems associated with the change must be fully understood and taken onto account prior to the transition-taking place. Whilst the benefits of e-learning are highly prophesied, the many implications of implementing and e-learning programme require careful consideration. Most, if not all the university sector are utilizing technology to develop what they consider to e-learning. Many of these implementations are costly and yet superficial, in terms of learner engagement activity.

Google is the most used search engine and yahoo is their second choice. Study discusses about the Audio Visual Services provided by the agricultural science university libraries in South India. User opinion is collected and presented in different tables and the study found that 48% of PG Students, 56% of Research Scholars and 49% of Faculty Members are of the opinion that the audio visuals materials are available in their respective libraries. Further 43% of PG students, 50% of Research Scholars and 44% of Faculty Members said that they are availing the AV services m their respective libraries. 39% of PG Students, 41% of Research Scholars and 41% of Faculty Members are expressed that they have used the micro film readers; finally 26% of PG Students, 40% of Research Scholars and 37% of Faculty Members are satisfied over all the audio visual services. This shows that majority of the users are not satisfied as per as audiovisual services are concerned.

This paper presents a preliminary discussion on some of the results from a survey aimed to explore, describe and explain some of the usability characteristics in digital library evaluation in the Libyan context. The study is framed in the evaluation of a bilingual digital library: The National Oil Corporation (NOC) - Digital Library in Libya. It is worth mentioning in this context that this study is the first of its kind to address evaluation issues in the context of Arabic language and it is limited to evaluate the effectiveness of the design of the prototype digital library which was designed using Greenstone digital library software. This paper discusses the evaluation of the prototype and reviews the analysis of the questionnaire, which was used for gathering data pertaining to the digital library that was built. The paper intends to discuss the methodology used for evaluating the prototype digital library, the framework, and the steps implemented to reach the final goal. Users' opinions and views on the digital library are also presented in this paper. Evaluating the prototype digital library is considered an important stage towards developing a full-scale NOC digital library.

The membership male, female and children and the professional, non professionals, students, unemployed and house wives are the main users of this library. The public library need to enrich their collections and motivate users to use these resources.

In Mysore city there are more than 30 academic and research libraries. The investigators have taken only 23 libraries for the study. Out of 23 libraries 17 libraries have computers. In these 17 libraries only 14 libraries have automated their library operations. In this study the investigators have touched various aspects related to library automation. The libraries that have not automated have given reasons for the delay to start automation work. Many libraries have network connections for sharing the information. The libraries operate with MYLIBNET, DELNET and INFLIBNET networking programmes. In many libraries the professional and semi professional staff are involved in data entry work.

The study presents the field of Cardiology literature records retrieved form MEDL1NE database for the period 1991-2010. This research shows that maximum number of records i.e. 829 was during 2000, followed by 826 in 2003 and 789 in 2002. Relative Growth Rate (RGR) and Doubling Time (Dt) were found to be an increasing and decreasing trend shown during the period of study. The paper reveals a study of the authorship pattern and collaborative research in the field of Cardiology. The study measures the performance bused on several parameters, country annual growth rate and collaborative index. The degree of collaboration mean score is 0.70 and highest score is 0.88 in 1991 exhibits during the period of study.
