This paper presents our proposed framework and experimental results on a quantity-quality composite performance assessment and ranking of Indian institutions in computer science (CS) research. We have tried to rank the 100 most productive Indian institutions in CS research on a composite single value rank derived from both 'quantity' and 'quality' parameters. Our work follows a standard scientometric methodology and uses data obtained from Scopus for 25 year period (1989-2013). The data are computationally analysed on relevant primary and secondary indicators and a composite quantity-quality ranking of research performance of Indian institutions in CS domain is computed. The proposed framework and the composite ranks obtained are analysed, evaluated and correlated with individual indicators and other recent work. The results obtained present a comprehensive analysis of research competitiveness of Indian institutions in CS research, both relative to each other and with the world top, and present inferences useful for policy makers, funding agencies, prospective students, and the CS community at large.

Reading is a multidimensional cognitive method of decrypting symbols to build and develop meaning from the recommended text. Mobiles and smartphones are transforming human lives at fast pace. One of the new refined inclinations of the 21st century has been the gradual change in reading habits. The extensive usage of the internet at a global level and the use of various forms of reading materials particularly hypertext and hypermedia resources have made radical shift in reading different forms in addition to printed text materials. Reading style is not the same as a decade back. Now, people are reading electronic documents and the latest form of electronic books (e-books), electronic journals (e-journals), electronic mails (e-mails) and online databases. Digital content has broken the physical boundaries of homes, libraries, and offices. This paper reviews all the developments related to mobile reading from print to online reading, online reading habits, students' attitude and behaviour to e-books, the move to mobile reading and it advantages and disadvantages. Also looked into are the roles of several independent variables such as gender, age, culture, and socioeconomic background of mobile users and their impact on mobile reading habits. Though mobiles are convenient to use, using them on a daily basis for longer hours, will cause a lot of health related problems such as cancer, stress, and neck pain. The microwave radiations (MWR) from mobile phones is harmful to all people particularly on children and unborn babies. Higher level mobile phone use is associated with sleep disturbances and symptoms of depression in men. Overall this paper provides a detailed review of mobile reading habits and how people shifted from printed form to online then to mobile form along advantages and disadvantages.

Cataloguing is one of the important housekeeping operations of the libraries. Almost all the libraries, with a few exceptions, use cataloguing module to create bibliographical records. The task of creating bibliographical records can be reduced to the minimum by using copy cataloguing option. It is an alternative for original cataloguing. The article describes the catalogue module and copy cataloguing through SOUL 2.0. A brief overview of copy cataloguing in India has also been taken. It has been found that it is underutilised practice and library professional need to utilise the facility of copy catalogueing through IndCat, WorldCat or any other bibliographic database providing such facility. The initiative taken by INFLIBNET in the form IndCat is praiseworthy on this background, yet there might be problems with regard to regional language documents. The recognised publishers need to provide MARC record along with books to promote copy cataloguing. In effect, the library professional have to demand books with MARC records to make them think this as regular practice. Although, copy cataloguing offers an opportunity over original cataloguing, its needs to be judiciously used. In fact its usage as the author urges will help to address and remove the issues pertaining to copy cataloguing.

Number of Iranian indexed journals in Scopus database has increased from 8 to 113 titles in joust in 12 years (2000-2012). This unprecedented growth is related to a change in the editorial policy of Scopus database rather than to a change in the Iranian scientific community. Therefore, Islamic Republic of Iran journals' status and efforts done to improve journals' quantity and quality at international level are very important. The present research intends to assess indexed Iranian journals in Scopus database quantitatively and qualitatively. The present research is a descriptive survey which can be applied through Scientometrics methods. Scopus database is the data source here. This research community comprises all Iranian scientific journals indexed in Scopus database during 2000-2012. Statistical software Excel has been used to analyze data and network analysis software NodeXL to draw shapes. Findings have shown that more academic-scientific institutes and centers have been in charge of managing and indexing scientific journals during study years. Unlike the quantitative growth in the number of indexed Journals, indexed Iranian journals quality (except for a few cases) haven't had a desirable condition. Besides, policies on this issue can be helpful in this regard.

Now in a day millions of products and customers are adding to the market. In current era, a wide range of customers are putting their interest to purchase products from the internet. So it becomes necessary that quality products can be purchased by customer with greater satisfaction. In recommender systems, items are recommended to users based on their search query, as well as their context information including history of purchased items, taste, location, gender and age group of the user and the sentiment about the products of inventory by analysing product reviews. We can solve this problem by considering cooperative environment, increase the performance of the learners compared to the best recommendation method that comprises the complete realisation of user arrivals and the inventory of items, as well as the context-dependent effects on purchase of items, and evaluate results on a dataset. The main idea behind to choosing sentiment analysis to recommend items according the popularity of the items and review of other users about the same items to convince user needs as per elicited user preferences expressed in textual reviews because now in a day's wide range of users of social networking sites passing their sentiments in reviews about different products. The review datasets consist of millions of reviews which plays an important role to improve the prediction accuracy. This technique is named as sentiment analysis and maps such preferences onto some predicted rating scales that can be understood by existing recommendation algorithms mainly done by extracting opinion words from review and then aggregating the ratings of such words to determine the dominant or average sentiment implied by the user for particular item.

The classification of articles of unidentified authorship to the articles written by existing Tamil scholars of the similar period, namely Mahakavi Bharathiar (MB), Subramaniya Iyer (SI) and T. V. Kalyanasundaram (TVK), is dealt in the present paper. The three popular scholars mentioned above had written a number of articles on India's Freedom Movement during the pre-independence period and published in the magazine called, India. Originally, all the three writers contributed their articles by attributing their names. The oppressive attitude of the then British administration forced all the three patriots to write articles on the same theme for unknown publications without mentioning their names. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) have recently been used as new tools and involved extensive research in various * disciplines including Stylometry, Text Mining and Authorship Attribution. Application of neural network models has increased considerably; in areas of pattern recognition and classification problems in the field of Stylometry, Text Mining and Authorship Attribution over the last decade. In this research article, an attempt is made to deal with the authorship attribution problems using a Radial Basis Function Network (RBFN) for attributing the articles of unknown authorship to one of the contemporary writers of the same period. Two sets of stylistic parameters such as morphology and function words are made use of for classification purposes. Subsequently, results of authorship attribution are discussed.

Collnet J Scientomet Inf Mgmt 2015, 9(1), 65-72.
Bornmann, Stefaner, de Moya Aneg¢n, and Mutz (2014a) have introduced a web application (www.excellencemapping.net) which is linked to both academic ranking lists published hitherto (e.g. the Academic Ranking of World Universities) as well as spatial visualization approaches. The application visualizes the performance of institutions worldwide within specific subject areas (journal sets from Scopus) as institutional ranking lists and on custom tile-based maps. Scopus data were used which are also the base for the SCImago Institutions Ranking. The second, enhanced version of the excellencemapping.net is described in Bornmann, Stefaner, de Moya Aneg¢n, and Mutz (2014b). In this version, the effect of covariates (such as the perceived corruption in a country in which a research institution is located) on two performance metrics (best paper rate and best journal rate) is examined and visualized. This paper describes the third version based on new data.

Scientific papers including international collaboration may have a positive citation impact because of two different reasons: their connections are expanded and higher expectations in terms of prestige and quality are created. On the other hand, collaborating with a country generally increases benefits received from it. However, in this sense, some collaborating countries provide larger increases in references than others, whereas some other countries register higher increases in citations from their partner countries compared to others. Furthermore, increases in citations provided by countries to their collaborating countries show differences among the different disciplines in science. This study will be focused on the case of India in order to analyze how this country behaves regarding scientific collaboration. Moreover, this specific work will deal with the same idea discussed in the previous general study, but it will also try to figure out those collaborating countries where India's cooperation is more intense, as well as its increase in citations received from collaborations.

Int J Data Mining Emerging Technol 2015, 5(2), 104-13.
Learning from multi-label and multi-target data is always more difficult than single-label data. The complexity is incurred by multiple labels assigned to a sample as well as to provide ranking among labels. The learning algorithms used for single-label data are not suitable to learn from multi-label and multi-target data. There are many applications where multi-label and multi-target data are present, for example, image classification, gene classification, document classification and so on. Multi-label classification can be mainly classified into two methods: Problem Transformation (PT) and Algorithm Adaptation. This paper focuses on classification of multi-target data by applying Pruned Set (PS) method which belongs to PT category. The PS method is capable of modelling label correlations directly and reduces over-fitting of data by pruning and sub-sampling label sets. The objective of this paper is to provide classification rules in multi-label form, provide confusion matrix which shows overall accuracy as well as label-wise accuracy for each different value of every class-label and to provide label-wise ranking among class-labels for multi-target data. Experiments are performed on real multi-target datasets and three measures like Hamming loss, exact match and accuracy are compared with different PT methods. Experimental comparison shows that the PS method gives better overall results when classifying multi-target data as compared to standard PT methods.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a vision of connectivity for anything, at anytime and anywhere, which may have a dramatic impact on our daily lives similar to the Internet done in past 10-20 years. It is recognized as an extension of today's Internet to the real world of physical objects, which is often associated with such terms as "ambient intelligent," "ubiquitous network, " and "cyber physical system. " Its development depends on dynamic technical innovation in a number of important fields, ranging from fundamental, microelectronic devices, sensor technologies to information and communication technologies (ICT). The Internet of Things has been called by many names. The idea is that objects can be connected through the internet in new ways. This happens when a combination of web-enabled devices (computers, phones, handhelds) and technology that can communicate with those devices (sensors, RFID, 2D and 3D barcodes) allows information to be attached to an object. The information can stand on its own and be read by a device or it can trigger an action such as bringing up a web page, playing a video, reminding pick up book, or giving a message to customer. This paper analyzes the key technology and working principle of loT, its development in India and abroad, its application in the library development and management. The primary intent of this paper is to provide libraries an overview of loT features and capabilities that can be used to develop online complex library solutions.

Knowledge management is emerging as a key concern of organizations, particularly those who have already redesigned their business processes and embedded a total quality approach into their practices, However it is well documented by many influential knowledge Management thought leaders that it is the human side of the equation that has the biggest potential for yielding the solid results that executives are looking for from knowledge management systems. In fact knowledge management has long been plagued by its inability to show unambiguous metrics that can demonstrate a solid monetary return to boardroom executives without using assumptions that range from the subjective to pure fantasy. Knowledge has become a power a determinative element of competitiveness. The growing glamour and move to revolutionize the educational sector with the aid of computer technology is clearly a part of an overall desire to be globally competitive. The new technology provides an opportunity to serve its clientele more actively by creating or acquiring access to database alerting patrons about new information providing computer enabled many services and thus its role has taken the image of reactive to proactive services.
