This study investigated the relationship between stress management skills and academic achievement of Library Science students in two universities. A total of 800 students randomly selected from universities participated in the study. Three null hypotheses were tested using. Data generated from research instruments. The instruments included a modified stress management scale adopted from its original form found in Blonna (2005). It has reliability co - efficient of 0.81. Data generated from this instrument were correlated with current students' grade point average scores (G.P.A) using Pearson product moment corr. Elation method. Results showed strong positive relationship between stress management skills and academic achievement. The relationship still exists when the data for each of the two genders were processed separately. It was recommended that stress management skills training should be given prominence in universities guidance and counseling progammes while concerned authorities should endeavor to provide facilities that may help to reduce academic stress.

Aim of this study is to analyze the expected web-based library services in different sections of the Dhaka University Library (DUL) and to explain the use of web-based library services by the users and the frequency of their visits to library website. A structured questionnaire was sent to the Business Faculty students of Dhaka University (DU). This study is also based on review of literatures collected from various documents such as books, journal articles, websites etc. The findings show that largest number of students visits the university library occasionally. The survey result revealed that 21.8 percent of respondents expected electronic document delivery service to be included to the DUL reference section. The survey results reported that the lowest number of respondents visits the library website daily while the highest number of respondents visits the library website occasionally. Finally the study provides some suggestions for effective use of web-based library services in DUL. The practical implications of this paper is that it will be helpful to university libraries in running the quality web-based library services by focusing on what the users necessitate. The study is limited to web-based library services as perceived by business faculty students of DU.

To understand the history and research status of soil carbon stocks, we collected soil carbon stocks citation data from the Science Citation Index Expanded during the period from 2000 to 2014. Next, we used HistCite to analyse the yearly output, country, institution, citation impact and citation relationships in the field. Results suggested that the research of soil carbon stocks has been steadily increasing during the studied 15-year period. The country with the highest research output was USA, and the institution with the highest research output was the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Majority of articles and the highest total location citation score (TLCS) values came from developed countries. Also, developed countries have more research advantages in this field than developing countries. The top three outputs journals were Soil Biology and Biochemistry, Global Change Biology, and Geoderma, whereas the top three TLCS journals were Global Change Biology, Soil Biology and Biochemistry, and Soil Science Society of America Journal. Articles published with higher TLCS values had a greater impact in the field of soil carbon stocks and played an important role in research trends.

In this communication, a new context-specific score, named M-score is being proposed. This score is able to complement the mock h-index (hm-index) and at the same time overcome some limitations of other popular indices such as h-index, g-index, etc. The proposed Mscore is computed not only on the basis of an individual's performance in scientific productivity, but also on the basis of the performance of other individuals in the field. This means that the M-score of an individual is an indicator towards his/her research performance relative to others in the field. Finally, based on the Mscore of an individual, his/her research contributions are graded using the OEVGSI (Outstanding, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Sufficient and Insufficient) grading system. The significance of context-specific M-score has been proved with the help of a sample dataset taken from Google Scholar.

The study recommends that the students be provided adequate training in information literacy. Also the number of computers available in the library and the faculty computer centre should be increased so that the students can easily access e-resources.

Factors that influenced usage of digital libraries at East West University in Bangladesh have been explored. Questionnaire-based survey and observation methods were used to collect primary data from 129 users of East West University Digital Library (EWUDL). The findings suggest that some factors such as users' knowledge of search domain, quality of digital library content, system characteristics, service quality, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and intention to use influenced the usage of the digital library. Users' intention to use digital library is significantly related to their perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of the system. The users were more or less satisfied with EWUDL. The study identified a number of challenges in establishing a digital library system in a university in Bangladesh. Some suggestions for adoption and usage of digital libraries in the country are made.

Creative Commons licensing 'by-cd-nd' is the widely used model. Majority of the journals (23%) permit post-print self-archiving. The most frequently appearing statement in the licensing clauses is "Publisher's version/PDF may be used".

This paper investigates the IL competence of the final year undergraduate students at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria; identifying their information needs and ability to satisfy such needs, exposure to IL programmes, strategies employed and the challenges faced. The survey research design was adopted. From a study population of 5,867, a sample size of 1,205 (20.58%) was drawn, using purposive sampling technique. Questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection which had 6 sections. The study found that majority of the respondents had information needs on their academic engagements like class assignments and project writing. Strategies employed in meeting their information needs revealed their limited IL skills even as they only have little exposure to available IL programmes. Thus, majority expressed dissatisfaction with their present status of information availability, accessibility and usage. Many considered difficulty in identifying their needs, cost of Internet browsing, subscription requirement, as challenges; hence their low level IL competence, constituting hindrance against the full exploration of information resources that may be available for their use. The study recommended that the University authorities should consider the teaching of IL as a course to fresh students with credits attached.

This paper presents the current status of university presses in India, and how they are interlinked with their prestigious fellowship programmes and academic research. Indian university presses were identified from DELNET union catalogue of books. Their publishing patterns are studied based on MIS reports available or generated from their respective websites. The paper also analyzes global visibility and availability of produced knowledge through institutional and external web catalogues, e-commerce sites and utilization of book promotion avenues. It is found that, as of now, Indian university presses don't publish e-books. Many of these presses don't even have a dedicated website for disseminating detailed bibliographic information on available titles.

Scientific publications are a reflection of the quality of the clinical and academic work being carried out in an institute. Training in the process of research and scientific writing are important components of the residency curriculum. The publication performance and research output of institutes training residents in neurology and neurosurgery were evaluated. Internet-based study. This study was based on the data available on the websites of the Medical Council of India and the National Board of Examinations. The PubMed search interface was used to determine the publication output of institutes over the past 5 years (2010-2014). Google Scholar was used to determine the citation performance of each paper. The publication parameters were normalized to the number of faculty members in each institute as listed on the institutional web page. The normalized publication performance for an institute was computed by comparing the figures for that institute with the national average. Institutes could be ranked on several criteria. There was a high degree of clustering of output from the top 5 of the institutes. About 13% of the neurology intake and 30.9% of neurosurgery intake over the past 5 years has been into the institutes that have not published a single paper during this period.This evaluation of the publication performance and research output of neurology and neurosurgery training institutes would serve as a baseline data for future evaluations and comparisons. The absence of any publication and research output from several training institutes is a matter of concern.

The latest (2014) release of the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) allows to compare the research performance of leading higher education institutions in India and China using an end-to-end bibliometric performance analysis procedure. Six carefully chosen primary and secondary bibliometric indicators summarize the chain of activity: input-output-excel-lence-outcome-productivity. From principal component analysis it is established that the primary indicators are orthogonal and represent size-dependent quantity and size-independent quality/productivity dimensions respectively. Using this insight two-dimensional maps can be used to visualize the results.

Wheat released varieties database at IIWBR contains detailed information of about 390 varieties, which have been released /identified for commercial cultivation in different parts of the country under various crop production conditions. The detailed information for each variety has about 55 descriptors of various types(text, numeric, image) in the form of fields of structured data base. This voluminous data give rise to management, retrieval and search problems so structured storage of this data and stepwise retrieval procedures through user friendly menu based software package was very much needed and This software package gives solution in this direction. This package uses VB 6.0 for forms and reports at front end and Microsoft Access at back end. The paper describes software package in detail, its use, 3 tier architecture used in it, its execution and output reports generated.

India and China have made sizeable growth in publishing science and engineering research papers in co-authorship with international institutions and patents granted in collaboration with foreign inventors during the period 1997-2012. However, the growth in case of China is much higher in comparison to India. The pace of growth in publishing research papers in co-authorship with international and domestic institutions is more or less the same in case of China, whereas India has shown higher growth in publishing research papers in co-authorship with international institutions in comparison to those with domestic institutions. The share of India and China to research papers published in co-authorship with international institutions increased from 1.8% and 4.1% respectively, in 1997 to 3.5% and 14.7% respectively in 2012. China's share to patents granted in collaboration with foreign inventors increased from 0.94% in 1997 to 13.68% in 2012, compared to an increase of 0.56% to 7.39% in case of India. The analysis shows that China has harnessed the fruit of its international cooperation in S&T to its advantage, as reflected by significant increase in research papers co-authored with international institutions and patents granted in collaboration with foreign inventors in comparison to India.

Several modern accelerator facilities have been set up in India for basic and applied research during the past 5 decades. Indian scientists have been able to carry out excellent accelerator-based research at these as well as international facilities. Applications of accelerators in healthcare and industry have also grown in recent years. There is a strong realization now, at all levels, that a quantum jump needs to be given to the field of accelerator science and technology in India to fulfil the aspirations of the research community to be at par internationally in our areas of strength. Applications in industry and healthcare also have to grow substantially to benefit the common man. In this article an analysis of the methodology and logic behind the evolution of our accelerator programme has been presented. More importantly, recommendations have been given for gainfully implementing a rather ambitious programme that is proposed to be taken up in the next few decades.

Distance education students are being away with the institution and its resources; particularly they very much needed the information literacy of key support services like library services and bibliographic instructions etc. Information literacy is concerned with teaching and learning about the whole range of information sources and formats. Information literacy aims to develop both critical understanding and active participation. Therefore the distance learners are very much depending on the resources available on the print as well as web. They need a good orientation regarding availability and usage of the resources. Research has achieved significance and as an imperative means for advancement and development. The research output is an essential part of an institution's appraise and evaluation of research quality. This study was an endeavor to find out the total research contribution and the trends of research in the different department of faculty of bioscience, university of Kashmir from its inception till 2013. The study also analyzes contributions in terms of collaborations at local, national and International level and to trace research trends in various fields. The Scopus database instead of is used to carry out to divulge research contributions in the field of biological sciences university of Kashmir. A total of 255 publications were investigated. The cumulative annual growth rate of the zoology (8.331%) is highest followed by biotechnology (6.675%), environment science (6.420% ),pharma science (6.118%), botany (4.785%), biochemistry (4.636%) and home science (2.600%). The findings also reveal that local collaborations are favored in almost all subjects.

Moreover this paper identifies the areas and level of training and education programmes continuing for library professionals by different universities and institutions in India and abroad with a special mention of the recommendation of the National Task Force appointed on I.
