This is of greatest significance to the information industry. It is possible that after having given an initial development impetus to the market, present suppliers could be seriously threatened or even completely wiped out by new entrants. New entrants are going to find it easy to come in at each end of the market, i.e. the top and the top and the bottom. At the bottom the entry price is negligible and small groups or individuals can expect to find a viable niche. This should not be a problem to present industry, but if these are the spearheads of a major broker movement, then revenue pattern will be altered.

This paper analyses the changing scenario of information use pattern in the academic libraries of Tamilnadu. Libraries play a vital role in higher education and research. In fact, it collects a number of printed documents such as books, journals, magazines, encyclopedia, dictionaries, yearbooks, news papers and non-printed materials like CDs, Microfiche, Microfilms, Databases, e-learning resources related to the courses offered in the college/university in order to meet the various information requirements of users at graduate, post graduate and research levels. The ancient libraries preserved and circulated the information sources in the printed or written forms. But, the development of science and technology have modernized the form of documents and changed the information use pattern of users. It is seen that the present users prefer non-printed materials to printed one. In other words, the demand for non-printed materials is more than the printed one and the time utilized in the information communication technological based information sources and services is more than that in printed documents circulation section. It shows that there is a change in the information use pattern of users in higher educational libraries. Hence an attempt is made to find out the changing scenario of information use pattern and factors motivating it in the higher educational libraries of Tamilnadu.

The credit goes to the quality of teaching and research pursuits of faculty, curriculum, facilities, scope for research and publication activities, etc., at IITs and IIMs. The IITs and IIMs are active in producing scholarly literature in the form of research projects, research papers, in-house publications etc. But such intellectual literature/output is not fully available in public domain though they are public-funded establishments. Identifying this gap, institutional repositories (IRs), the online platform for archiving and sharing of institutional intellectual-content, initiated by the IITs and IIMs were explored. The findings of the study show that out of 16 IITs, 8 IITs have initiated IRs and of which 2 are accessible online and 7 on intranet. On the other hand, out of 13 IIMs, IRs of 3 IIMs are accessible online. The paper also highlights the number and type of documents archived, software platforms used for launching the IRs, accessibility and quality of links of the IRs.

DESIDOC J Libr Inf Technol 2015, 35(4), 273-80.
Chhattisgarh State was formed in 2001 carved out from the then Madhya Pradesh. Ever since its establishment as a fully fledged state, a considerable number of academic institutions have sprungup. To promote education a Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have been established along with universities and colleges. As libraries are heart of any institution, present study attempts to analyse the status of libraries in various academic institutions of Chhattisgarh with emphasis on status of automation and ICT applications and use. Survey method was followed to collect the data and six libraries were selected for detailed analysis. There are one central university, one state university, one special university, one open university, along with NIT and IIM. The results indicate that all libraries are discharging their services with functional library buildings. However, their collection is uneven and staff strength is less. Most of the libraries are yet to develop any collection development policies and still collection of non-book materials is very less. Although most of the libraries have implemented automation either by using Libsys or SOUL, staff of the libraries have required skill to handle various bugs in using software. Digitisation of collection is not well adopted in most of the libraries. To excel in services, staff training and staff appointment seem to be urgent need of these libraries.

Watermarking has established itself as a promising solution in the context of digital image copyright protection. Frequency domain watermarking is mainly preferred due to associated robustness and perceptual issues but requires a large amount of computation. On the other hand spatial domain watermarking is much faster but lacks when robustness is concerned. In this paper a block based spatial domain watermarking technique for color images is proposed that is fast and robust. Two-way embedding introduced in the paper provides capability to previously estimate perceptual degradation in host image due to watermark embedding. Multiple watermarking in two component images is used to achieve better imperceptibility and better robustness. Self-encryption introduced aims to remove dependency over external secret key however optional encryption with random secret keys is proposed for providing better security. Proposed embedding technique is an effort to achieve proper balance between robustness and quality degradation of image. Experiments suggest proposed method is robust against processing attacks such as spatial filtering transformations image enhancement and loss compression.

With changing times the publishing industry has adopted various standards of reference, bibliographic standards in publishing the electronic content such as books, articles, theses and dissertation, websites, data, e-publications, videos, white papers and more. Managing of such references is becoming challenging day by day for users. To overcome this problem, many references management tools are available in IT environment to collate and manage citations and references to help the users, research scholars and faculty. However with the advent of reference management tool. It has been possible to correct format for citing references in research papers. It is also important to remember that scholars don't have to wed their self to any one tool as each has its pros and cons, and one can use different tools for different purpose. One can usually exchange references/citations between different tools quite easily, so if a researcher start using one tool and decide to move to a different tool, researcher can transfer all their references/citations and not have to go out and find them again. Following are the major reference management tools which discussed in this paper 1) Mendeley 2) Ref works 3) Bibliotext 4) Zotero and 5) Endnote. A comparative study has been done for available reference management tools which may help the users to decide which one is the appropriate and more user friendly for their research work. The paper studies the problem which occur while using the reference management tools and how to overcome those problem using alternative tools and converter etc.
