A partition of V into χ(G) independent sets (called colour classes) is said to be χ-partition of G. A set S ⊆ V is called a dominating set of G if every vertex in V - S is adjacent to a vertex in S. A dominating set S of G is called a dominating colour transversal set (std-set) if S has non-empty intersection with every colour class of some, χ-partition of G. The minimum order of an std-set of G is the dominating colour transversal number of G and is denoted by γst(G). In this paper, we study γst for trees.

Clearly this latter area has moved forward in recent years and this progression is likely to continue given the level of interest associated with the actions of 5-HT.

The study of queues deals with quantifying the phenomenon of waiting in lines using representative measures of performance such as average queue length, average waiting time in queue and average facility utilization. Queuing theory attempts to formulate, interpret and predict for purposes of better understanding the queues to introduce remedies such as adequate service with tolerate waiting. For any queuing system/model, average queue length and average waiting time are the main observable characteristics. Performance of any queuing system is said to be satisfactory if a customer has to wait minimum time in the system to get service, that is queue length should be small. To monitor the average queue length of the system through control charts, in this paper control limits are established for N. We have constructed Shewhart control chart and control chart using method of weighted variance for random queue length N and the performance of these two control charts is compared using the performance measure ARL. If these control limits are displayed in advance the performance of the system improves. Thus, in this paper we combine performance measures of queuing model with the performance measures of control chart namely ARL and False alarm rate α.

Mathematical model is presented to predict the peristaltic transport of bio fluid with a reference to milk extracted from women's breast with varying temperature. The thermal modeling for the transport of milk is studied by considering two layered bio-model. Infants use peristaltic motion of the tongue along with some suction to extract the milk. The flow and deformation in a human teat is considered to explain the physiological flow parameters in relation to contraction and expansion of axisymmetric wave propagation. Under the assumption that during the peristaltic action the metabolic heat being produced at different layers of the breast. Numerical results using Herschel-Bulkley fluid model have been computed using the overall heat transfer coefficient, stream function and velocity distribution. Expressions are derived for velocity, average flux with a reference to average breast radius of different layers. The basic equations of motion and continuity with a reference to cylindrical polar coordinates are considered to estimate the velocity, flux for peristaltic action.

Here we have suggested a new method for solving the multi-objective unbalanced assignment problem by using fuzzy programming technique. The suggested method is capable of assigning all the jobs to machine optimally. The method is presented in an algorithmic form. Finally, numerical example has been given to show the efficiency of the solution procedure.

For stabilizing the population, it is essential to provide supply and give the knowledge of modern contraceptives to the people of the state. The family welfare programmes are run by the government in the districts every year but their performance cannot be evaluated directly. Therefore, in this paper, we have developed statistical tools called CYP Index and CYP Prevalence for the districts for each year. This article reveals that the performance of Sirohi, Pali, Dungarpur, Jalore is good whereas Jaipur district is very poor. It is also found that importance should be given to the highly populated districts so as to improve their socioeconomic conditions and provide them modern contraceptives at the subsidized rates.

The performances of Roychoudhury and generalized Roychoudhury estimator are investigated empirically by considering two super population models one involving normal distribution and other involving gamma distribution. From these distributions samples are drawn and by considering each sample as a population, variances of various estimators are worked out. It is observed that in case of populations having normal distribution with increase in relative intercept the efficiency of Roychoudhury and generalized Roychoudhury generally increases and these estimators are better than PPSWR, ratio and regression estimators. Some investigations are also carried out for estimators based on sample of size two and it was observed that the weighted estimator has smaller variance than all the estimators included in the study.

The author of the present paper has generalized the result of Bernstein for a more general class of trigonometric polynomials, i.e. (N, p_n means of the partial sums of the Fourier series, for this the reference may be made to Dubey and Kumar. Objective of the present paper is to elucidate the similar problem for the conjugate function. Here it is pertinent to mention that the order of approximation turns out to be the best when we consider a particular case of it, i.e. when p_n = I for every n, then our result includes the result of Bernstein and in fact, reduces to a necessary and sufficient form. Moreover, it is noteworthy that determination of constants in the theory of approximation is very significant in its own right from the practical point of view and therefore, they too have been taken care of in this paper like Bernstein and Dubey and Kumar.

Davis and Blake (1956) have outlined 11 significant importance of proximate determinants influencing fertility under three main headings like factors affecting exposure to intercourse, conception and gestation and parturition. Bongaarts (1978) collapsed this set of 11 intermediate fertility variables into eight by grouping them in three broad factors namely exposure, deliberate marital fertility control and naturahnarital fertility factors. But, the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) could not reflect the age structure and was insensitive to changes in age structure. Further, Bongaarts and Potter (1983) proposed index based on sex-age composition. Still there was chance of over and under estimation of contribution of the determinants towards fertility changes, which was overcome by Majumdar (2000). In the present study, an index based on Kullback distance used in the Information Theory has been used to reflect fertility transition in the age-distribution number (ADN) and the woman-distribution number (WDN). The index has been illustrated to measure the difference between the observed and reference age pattern of fertility by using data of fertility rates of four States of India.

In any organization like marketing, industrial, software, the depletion of manpower due to policy decisions is quite common. This in other words is known as attrition. Frequent recruitment is not advisable due to the cost of the same. Hence recruitment is postponed till a point called the breakdown point of total depletion beyond which the normal activities can not be continued due to shortage of manpower. This level of ' allowable manpower depletion is called the threshold. In this paper under the assumption that the threshold is the total of three individual components such as the normal available threshold level, the addition to manpower due to transfer of personnel from sister organizations and the extra time work of existing workers, the expected time to breakdown in other words to time to recruitment is derived using the shock model approach. Numerical illustration is also provided.

The basic concepts of some near open, near rough, near exact and near fuzzy sets are introduced and sufficiently illustrated. The topology induced by binary relations is used to generalize the basic rough set concepts. We introduce the near exactness and near roughness by applying the near concepts to make more accuracy for definability of sets. We give a new definition for a membership function to find near interior, near boundary and near exterior points. Moreover, proved results, examples and counter examples are provided. The topological structure which suggested in this paper opens up the way for applying rich amount of topological facts and methods in the process of granular computing.

In the analysis, the plates are moving with different velocities in opposite directions. The solution for velocity and temperature distributions, skin friction and Nusselt number are obtained and effects of different parameters are shown graphically and discussed numerically.

The problem is concerned with the effect of porous medium on MHD laminar flow of an unsteady visco-elastic (Kuvshiniski type) liquid with uniform distribution of dust particles past an inclined plane under the influence of exponential pressure gradient and mass transfer. The liquid is bounded by a parallel upper surface at a distance h from the plane. Analytical expressions for velocities of liquid and dust particles and concentration are obtained which are in elegant forms. It is observed that velocity of liquid or dust particles increases with the increase in Permeability of medium (K_o), Modified Grashof number (G) and decreases with the increase in Schmidt number (S) for first half cycle, after it the effect of K_o1, G and S on both velocities is reversed for second half cycle.

Phenomenological model has been developed for the study of lattice dynamics of NaCI structure crystals. The model called valence force field model (VFFM) in essentially a rigid-ion model which considers the ion-ion and ion-electron interactions between the atoms. The VFFM developed for the NacI structure crystals has been employed to obtain the phonon dispersion, specific heat and Debye temperature for Rubidium chloride crystal. The calculated results have been compared with the availabe experimental data. The agreement of the theoretical results with experimental values is found to the satisfactory.

Considered a rigid cylindrical artery & assumed flow distribution by a central core region surrounded by a suspension of cells which has been represented by a Casson's fluid. The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of Casson's fluid for pulsatile flow of blood. In order to study the flow rate, wall shear stress and velocity profile, we have extended the Picard's type iterative procedure developed by Liberstein (1974). The steady flow in rigid tubes is modified into pulsatile flow in rigid tube by introducing pressure gradient as a function of time. Repeated iteration improves the solution of generalization.

Two constrained minimization problem under the suitable hypotheses defined on the function f: minf - f_y y Subject to x ≥ 0, -f_y ≥ 0; max f - f_x Subject to y ≥ 0, f_y ≥ 0; are well known each to be dual to the other. This symmetric duality result is now extended to a clas of non smooth problems, assuming some convexity hypotheses. The first problem is generalized to min f (x, y) - p^Ty subject to x ∈ T; - p^T ∈ S* ∩ ∂y (-f) (x,y).. in which T and S are Convex Cones, S* is the dual cone of S, and ∂y denotes the suddiferential with respect to y. the usual method of proof uses second derivatives, which are no longer available therefore a different method is used where a non-smooth problem is approximated by a sequence of smooth problems. This dualty results confirms a conjecture by Chandra in symmetric dual fractional programming [5].

Recent advances in the study of ionic liquids based gel polymer electrolytes have been briefly reviewed in view of their electrochemical applications, particularly, their application as electrolytes in supercapacitors. The incorporation of ionic liquids in gel polymer electrolytes, instead of organic solvents like propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate, etc., provide added effect in terms of their thermal, electrical and electrochemical stabilities. Recent studies on poly(ethylene oxide) based polymer electrolyte plasticized with ionic liquid and ionic liquid incorporated poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) based gel polymer electrolytes have been summarized. A special description has been given of supercapacitors (electrical double layer capacitors), studied in our laboratory, based on multiwalled carbon nanotubes, activated charcoal powder electrodes and optimized gel/polymer electrolytes. Comparative studies indicate that PVdF-HFP based gels are superior electrolytes to develop electrical double layers capacitors (in terms of higher capacitances and lower resistive values) over PEO based plasticized polymer electrolytes.
