The numerical solutions of the system of non-linear ordinary differential equations, which describe the pulsatile flow of MHD non-Newtonian fluid obeying power law model with convective heat transfer through a non-Daray porous medium between two coaxial cylinders are obtained, when the inner cylinder is at rest and the outer cylinder rotates with constant velocity, taking into account the effects of internal heat generation, viscous and ohniic dissipations. Finite difference method is used for solving the system of equations. The results of the velocity and temperature distributions are illustrated graphically for diiferent values of physical parameters. Also, an estimation of the global error is calculated by using Zadnnaisky technique (1976).

The Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA)-axis is the neuroendocrine system greatly affected by the stress. A normal HPA axis response to stress is characterized by a fast increase of corticotrophin-releasing hormone(CRH), adrenal corticotrophin(ACTH) and cortisol followed by an efficient return to pre-stress levels upon termination of the stressful challenge. HPA-axis is influenced by both alcohol and stress. Dysfunction of the HPA-axis has been observed in chronic alcoholics and in non-alcoholic sons of alcoholic parents, while genetic and environmental factors, such as stress, may play a significant role in the development of alcoholism. Here, a stochastic model is developed to investigate the response of the HPA-axis to alcohol and stress as a function of family history of alcoholism and chronic alcohol abuse using gamma process. The model is designed using gamma process to determine the changes in plasma ACTH concentrations in response to a placebo or an alcohol (0.50 g ethanol/kg body wt) drink and to a stress task performed 30 mm following ingestion of either the placebo or the alcohol drink in social and heavy drinkers with [high risk (HR)] and without [low risk (LR)J a family history of alcoholism.

For any configuration of pebbles on the nodes of a graph, a pebbling move replaces two pebbles on one node by one pebble on an adjacent node. A cover pebbling is a move sequence ending with no empty nodes. The number of pebbles needed for a cover pebbling starting with all pebbles on one node is trivial to compute and it was conjectured that the minimum of these simple cover pebbling numbers is indeed the general cover pebbling number of the graph. That is, for any configuration of this size, there exists a cover pebbling. All previously published results about cover pebbling numbers for special graphs (trees etc.) are direct consequences of cover pebbling theorem [4 and 5]. In this paper, we will prove that the cover pebbling number of product of two isomorphic graphs equals the product of the cover pebbling numbers of the graphs.

The algorithm is based on the solution of underlying mathematical program and makes use of dominance relation ship among jobs and fixing of variables. The objective of the paper is to solve bi-criterion problems more efficiently and in reasonable amount of time with little compromise on the optimality of the solutions. Various parameters such as total tardiness, T_max, number of tardy jobs (NT) etc. have been studied sequentially followed by numerical example.

The unsteady mixed convection boundary layer flow near the stagnation region of a heated vertical plate in the presence of an applied magnetic field has been studied. It is assumed that the unsteadiness is caused by the impulsive motion of the free stream velocity and by sudden increase in the surface temperature. The partial differential equations governing the flow and heat transfer have been solved numerically using an implicit finite difference method. It is found that both skin friction and heat transfer parameters increase with time and magnetic field. The heat transfer increase with the Prandtl number but skin friction decreases. Also, at large times, skin friction and heat transfer decrease continuously to reach a new steady state.

This paper deals with this real life situation and presents an inventory model based analysis related to EOQ and EOL The optimum total cost expression is obtained for inventory distribution in different categories of warehouses. Theoretical finding are supported by a numerical example. It is found that three-warehouse setup, as described above, is beneficial over the two-warehouse setup in terms of total average cost.

Decrease in the phase velocity is more rapid at lower values of KH compared to higher values of KH. The effect of presence of free surface on the phase and group velocity has been studied with the help of dispersion and group velocity curve.

Initially, the two pumps are operative which have different configurations in the sense that one (having specific design) of the units can not work for the other in any case but the other is specially designed in such a manner that it can work in place of the former unit at need. Initially the third unit is standby and is specially designed like the specially designed operative unit and hence can work in place of either of the units. System worfts at full capacity if two units are operative and at reduced capacity if only one of the unit is operative. System is analysed by making use of regenerative point technique.

Cluster analysis and similar types of classifying techniques are effective for developing simple menu interfaces. This paper extends the use of cluster technique to a more complex In-migration system of Gujarat that consists of 34 destinations. Cluster analysis may also benefit the government policy makers by providing the trends of migration process, knowing how many people, who are likely to come into Gujarat during current decade along with their special reasons, can greatly help that area's planners and policy makers to prepare for them. In this study, we apply various cluster analysis techniques to detect some basic patterns and trends in the in-migration process of Gujarat state in terms of degree of homogeneity of various destinations of India with respect to migration reasons. From Census 2001, we find that in-migration trend in Gujarat seem to have become somewhat more homogeneous, although the results are not unequivocal and considerable differences remain, leaving scope for further integration. In terms of clustering, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and U.P. tend to cluster together while Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi and Manipur are in the same distinct cluster. Orissa forms separate cluster, but 12 from the remaining destinations tend to be closer and are in the same distinct cluster.

The asymptotic normality of the proposed class of test statistics is established. In 1982, A.S. Mashhour et al. have defined the notion of preopen sets. The notion of preopen sets play a significant role in general topology. Preopen sets are also called nearly open and locally dense sets by several authors in the literature. They are not only important in the context of cover ing properties and decompositions of continuity but also in functional analysis in the context of open mapping theorems and closed graph theorems. The concepts of preclosure and preinterior of a set are also due to A.S. Mashhour et al In 2002, Navalagi has defined preneighbourhoods, pre-interior point, prelimit point, prederived set and prefrontier of set. The present paper is an attempt to arrive at further results on preopen and preclosed sets and to define pre-exterior of a set and study some of its basic properties.

In this paper, time minimization assignment problem for processing the jobs on the machine is presented with certain variants in the objective function. There are n jobs to be carried out when, only m (<<n) machines are available with 'time' matrix (t_ij) of size m x n, gives the time required for job j to be carried out on machine 'i'. Each job has to be done only on one of the machine (i.e. one can not start processing a job on one machine and halfway shift it to another machine). Also, each machine is required to process not less than m^{1_i (least number of jobs) and not more than m_i u(at most) jobs; thus, it is permissible that some jobs may have to go unprocessed i.e Σ_i=1m ≤ n. With this idea the objectives for the TMAP are: The first one is to minimize the total time required for processing the jobs on these machines, the second one is to minimize the maximum of total time for processing the jobs on the machines. Presents a statistical study with an objective to search for an appropriate probability distribution for modeling daily rainfall amounts in the western part of Orissa state. Four types of distributions viz., Inverx Gaussian, Log-Normal, Gamma and Exponential are used as alternative models to fit the data on daily rainfall amounts collected for 29 years. The strength of the fittings of the said distributions has been tsted by using the Chi-square goodness of fit test. Results of the study indicate that the log-normal distribution is better than others in modeling the daily rainfall amounts in the tract.

In this paper, authors focused on the solution procedure of the multi-objective transportation problem (MOTP) where the cost coefficient of the objective function has been expressed as interval values by the decision maker. This problem has been transformed into a classical MOTP where to minimize the interval objective function, the order relation that represents the decision maker's preference between interval profits has been defined by the right limit, centre, and half-width of an interval. Finally, the equivalent transformed problem has been solved by fuzzy programming technique. Numerical examples have been provided to illustrate the solution procedure for interval objective function.
