Complex variable technique is used to solve the present problem. For the analysis of Data in the form of paired (pre-treatment, post-treatment) counts we propose a zero-inflated bivariate Poisson regression (ZIBPR) model. We develop EM algorithm to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of the parameters of the ZIBPR model. Further, we obtain exact Fisher information matrix of the maximum likelihood estimates of the parameters of the ZIBPR model which can be used in a procedure for testing treatment effects. The Procedure to detect treatment effects based on the ZIBPR model is compared, in terms of size, by simulations, with an earlier procedure using a zero-inflated Poisson regression (ZIPR) model of the post-treatment count with the pre-treatment count treated as a covariate. The procedure based on the ZIBPR model holds level most effectively. A further simulation study indicates good power property of the procedure based on the ZIBPR model. We then analyze the DMFT index data based on the ZIBPR model and compare with the analysis using the ZIPR model.

We work out here the four integrals that involve generalized Hypergeometric function, generalized Reimann zeta function, generalized Wright Bessel function, Function with Gaussian model, Laguerre polynomial, Hermite polynomial and Jacobi polynomial which follow as special cases of our first integral. A result recorded in the text by Mathai and Saxena [7], and the other obtained by Kesarwani [6] also follow as special cases of our findings.

Clearly, every classical domain is a division ring and over a division ring every module has all the homological properties, like projective, free, semi-simple and injective. Good numbers of sufficient conditions for a classical ring are known. They are von Neumann regular, perfect (in particular, Artinian) and self-injsctive. But we don't know any necessary homological condition for a classical ring other than the trivial ones like every module is divisible and every module is torsion-free. In this paper we would like to investigate some necessary conditions for a classical ring and also study some class of rings which are classical. We also give relationship between YJ-injectivity (i.e., GP-injectivity) and π-regularity.

Recently, Singh and Petwal [9] have studied Kaehlerian conharmonic recurrent space of second order and have derived several theorems therein. In the present paper, we have investigated several theorems on Sasakian conharmonic r-recurrent and Sasakian conharmonic r-symmetric space and the necessary condition for a Sasakian r-recurrent space to be Sasakian conharmonic r-recurrent has been investigated. Further, the necessary and sufficient condition for a Sasakian conharmonic r-symmetric space to be Sasakian r-symmetric has also been derived.

Stein (1956), in his seminal paper, came with the surprising discovery that the sample mean is an inadmissible estimator of the population mean in three or higher dimensions under squared error loss. The past five decades have witnessed multiple extensions and variations of Stein's results. Extension of Stein's results to prediction problems is of more recent origin, beginning with Komaki (2001) and George et al, (2006) and Ghosh et al. (2006). The present article shows how both the estimation and prediction problems go hand in hand under certain "intrinsic losses", which includes both the Kullback-Leibler and Bhattacharyya-Hellinger divergence losses. The estimators dominating the sample mean under such losses are motivated both from the Bayesian and empirical Bayes point of view.

Study the possibility of using the Horvitz-Thompson (HT) estimator from a sample collected by the Rao-Hartley-Cochran (RHC) scheme. Derived expressions for several alternative unbiased variance estimators of the estimators given by RHC and HT for estimating a population total. For a real life problem, on finding well correlated auxiliary variate values, we consider selecting the first stage units by the RHC scheme and the second stage units by equal probabilities without replacement. Using real data, we compare the relative accuracies in estimation by dint of simulation, using the classical and the new variance estimators. Our criteria for comparison are the actual coverage percentage (ACP) and the average coefficient of variation (ACV). We demonstrate that as against the RHC estimator, the HT estimator is a viable contender in estimation from an RHC sample.

Analysed the effect of radiation on mixed convective heat and mass transfer through a porous medium in a vertical cylindrical annulus. By using Gauss-Seidel Iteration technique the governing momentum, energy and diffusion equations are solved. The influence of radiation parameter on the flow characters are analysed.

The problem of testing equality of means of a bivariate normal distribution on the basis of a sample of size n has been considered when the labels of the observations are not known. Two tests based on the sample moments of absolute values of the differences of the observations in each pair are suggested. Their power properties are investigated. It is interesting to observe that for small values of the parameter one is more powerful than the other while for larger values it is the other way around.

The two parameter skew-normal distribution can be viewed as having arisen from a standard normal density by hidden truncation or by an additive component construction. It is of interest to determine whether the two skewing mechanisms can yield the same asymmetric distribution when applied to other symmetric or asymmetric distributions. It is conjectured that the phenomenon only occurs in the normal case. In other cases, hidden truncation and additive components typically lead to different families of skewed distributions. Some examples are provided to illustrate the phenomenon.

Considers the problem of calibrating k (≥ 2) channels or signal processors and select the best one, that is the one having the largest signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Assuming a Gaussian distribution for the background white noise or clutter, the problem reduces to selecting from k (≥ 2) normal populations the one with the largest value of the absolute mean. Assuming unknown means and a common unknown variance, we proceed under Bechhofer's 1954 indifference-zone formulation. Since the common variance is unknown, a single-stage procedure guaranteeing a preassigned level of the minimum probability of correct selection (PCS) would not exist. We propose a two-stage selection methodology whose minimum PCS meets the minimum PCS requirement up to the second-order term with respect to the difference of the absolute means. The roles of the proposed approximation are examined both via exact computations and simulations. A realistic example on passive acoustic sonar detection of marine mammals (Abraham 2004) is included with data analyses.

The purpose of this work is to study the effect of free convection on the three-dimensional channel flow of a viscous incompressible fluid through a porous medium. Two infinite vertical parallel porous flat plates bound the porous medium and both the stationary plate and the plate in uniform motion are subjected to transverse sinusoidal injection and uniform suction of the field, respectively. Due to this type of injection velocity distribution, the flow becomes three-dimensional one. Approximate solutions have been derived for the velocity and the temperature field's as well as skin-frictions and the rate of heat transfer using the series expansion. The results of main flow fluid velocity (u) and the amplitude of the perturbed part of the skin friction (F₁) are discussed extensively due to cooling (G > 0) and heating (G < 0) of the plate.

An attempt has been made to improve upon the Hansen-Hurwitz (1943) estimator based on PPSWR sampling scheme through Rao-Blackwellisation. In order to derive the sampling variance of the improved estimator obtained by Rao-Blackwellisation, it is of interest to derive the probability distribution of the number of distinct units in the sample drawn according to PPSWR sampling scheme, as the improved estimator is based solely on the distinct units in the sample. It has been possible to write down the exact distribution of the number of distinct units in the sample drawn by PPSWR sampling scheme in a closed form. Assuming a super-population model, the model-expected design-variance of the improved estimator is worked out and it is compared with that of the Hansen-Hurwitz estimator under the same super-population model. The percentage gain in efficiency in using the improved estimator over the Hansen-Hurwitz estimator is worked out for certain selected values of the model parameters.
