Defines knowledge as sum total of ideas, emotions, beliefs, and experiences conserved by the society. Enumerates its properties as being social, ever growing, multidimensional and fragmentary. Explains in brief social epistemology. Lists the growth of knowledge by specialization, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary modes. Views classifications as impermanent maps of knowledge which change with society and time. Explains the four principles of the mapping of knowledge as given by D W Langridge, namely, ideological, social purpose, taxonomic, and disciplinary. Defines the field and scope of social sciences and briefly introduces the Colon Classification, its method, structure and kind of subjects therein. Further outlines and critically evaluates the order of basic subjects as divided in to major disciplines of sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Lastly it dwells minutely on the order of social sciences main classes, namely, education, geography, history, political science, economics, sociology and law. Ranganathan claimed this order to be of increasing artificiality of their laws. Refutes Ranganathan's concept of artificiality of social laws. Argues the order of CC-6(1960) main classes to be of serial dependency as given by August Comte and already practiced by the Library of Congress Classification.

Francis Bacon's famous aphorism said, Knowledge is Power. Benjamin Franklin said, Time is Money. Given limited lifetime, how to manage knowledge is becoming a more important matter in this knowledge explosion era. The so-called "Knowledge" is mostly found or developed by human beings. Different civilizations look at knowledge from different way. Given different opinion about knowledge, but people all starting to agree, that knowledge is a "soft power" and also a "real property". We all know how to pursue money, and find financial experts help to manage our properties. But few of us realize that knowledge should be managed like property, with much more complexity than tangible assets and head-counting. Authors like to propose two new ways to study the art and the math of managing knowledge, by using existing strategy like Sunzi's "Art of War" and by borrowing the knowledge of handling numbers, In number systems, there are positive, negative, fractional, irrational, real and imaginary numbers. For similar reasons, we like to treat knowledge with similar characteristics. By using the existing wisdom of strategy and deep understand of mathematical numbers, we think that if we use our understand of strategy and number to understand different types of knowledge, then we will have better understanding of knowledge types and more systematical ways to manage knowledge as we manage different types of numbers and battlefield situations as analyzed by Sunzi in his classical book, "Art of War'.

Explores newspaper reports regarding crimes developed out of superstitions and the motives behind those crimes. Newspaper reports were analysed to draw quantitative statistics of collected data. Shows that untested presuppositions not only challenge the development of society but also raise serious debate regarding the prevailing callousness in eradicating unwanted criminal activities under the shadow of superstition. Suggestions have been made to check unwanted deaths and other crimes over innocents with the spreading of scientific temperament and rationality among semiliterate. A model of effective information support system has also been incorporated in this paper, which can gradually eradicate the untested preconceptions.

Multi-objective genetic algorithms (MOGAs) are finding increasing popularity as researchers realize their potential for obtaining good solutions to mining problems in large databases. Parallel multi-objective genetic algorithms (pMOGAs) attempts to reduce the processing time needed for computing the fitness functions and to reach an acceptable solution. We propose two different master slave models of pMOGA. Our proposed models exploit both data parallelism by distributing the data being mined across various processors, and control parallelism by distributing the population of individuals across all available processors. These models are implemented through a cluster computing environment and we measure the speed up of pMOGA over its sequential counterpart.

Examines the electronic access (read) of individual research papers in economics selected randomly from the Repec data base. Finds similarities and differences in the measure of central tendency and dispersion of two type of reads viz abstract read and full text read of papers by calculating the rate of read, standard deviation and coefficient of variation. Results indicate topic-wise difference both in the number of abstract read and full text read. Finds a very high positive correlation between the monthly abstract read and full text read, also obtains the regression equation. Derives a ratio connecting the per month abstract read, full text read and citation. Indicate that full text read is a subset of abstract read. Finds that a more read paper is not correspondingly well cited. Searches for a best-fit relationship between the full text read and citations, and obtains a tenth degree polynomial but with coefficient of determination being 0.42 only. Concludes that citation is not parameterized by read. Suggests the need of a social network analysis to identify the parameters of citations.

Modernizing the information systems having design defects is a central software engineering problem in current IT industry. Often, existing legacy database systems cannot simply be replaced by new systems, because they maintain important legacy data pertaining to the company's mission. Thus, reverse engineering of the design documentation of such legacy database systems is often a necessity.' proposed a number of design patterns that offer good solutions for recurring design situations. Several interactive CASE tools have been developed to solve this problem but the practical experience indicates that their applicability is limited because they do not consider defective knowledge about legacy systems. Reverse Engineering is the process through which one tries to recover the specifications of a software component. Database Reverse Engineering addresses the problem of rebuilding the logical and conceptual schemas of a set of files or of a database". It is possible to recognize all locations in all schemas that can be changed to improve quality. It is possible to recognize some locations in some schema that can be changed to improve the internal product quality. Our work tries to overcome the problem of detecting occurrences of poor design patterns in legacy database systems and replacing the poor code/design by a good design pattern by reverse engineering process.
