All the afore mdentioned entities have been modelled using Unified Modelling Language 2.0. Banking system has been used as an application to illustrate the modelling.

Citations are an important measure of the quality and content of scientific communications. Since no study regarding the most cited articles in surgical literature from India exists, this article aims to identify these top cited articles. The 100 most frequently cited articles in surgery that originated from India were identified using the database of Scopus using a three pronged search. The top 100 most cited articles were tabulated in descending order. The most cited article received 196 citations, whereas the 100th received 20. The majority of the articles were published in the decade 1991 to 2000, with 39 institutions authorising these `landmark' articles. When compared to other published `citation classics' the Indian scenario has lot of scope for improvement. A definite conscious effort is required on the part of the Indian surgical fraternity to improve the citation value of our research.

Different strategies have been presented that can be used to escape detection and foil an eavesdropper having high technical capabilities as well as adequate infrastructure. Based on the strength and weaknesses of current steganographic schemes, ideas have been progressed to make detection and destruction of hidden information more difficult.

RFID (Radio Frequency Idenfitication) is the latest technology to be used in library theft detection systems. Unlike EM (Electro-Mechanical) and RF (Radio Frequency) systems, which have been used in libraries for decades, RFID-based systems move beyond security to become tracking systems that combine security with more efficient tracking of materials throughout the library, including easier and faster charge and discharge, inventorying, and materials handling. RFID is a combination of radio-frequency-based technology and microchip technology. The information contained on microchips in the tags affixed to library materials is read using radio frequency technology regardless of item orientation or alignment (i.e., the technology does not require line-of-sight or a fixed plane to read tags as do traditional theft detection systems) and distance from the item is not a critical factor except in the case of extra-wide exit gates. The corridors at the building exit(s) can be as wide as four feet because the tags can be read at a distance of up to two feet by each of two parallel exit sensors. The devices used for circulation and inventorying are usually called 'readers' while the ones used at building exits usually called 'sensor'. The tags or targets used in RFID systems can replace both EM or RF theft detection targets and barcodes, although the system that 3M introduced in 2000 replaced only barcodes in the belief that EM is superior to RFID for security. [3M did introduce a comprehensive RFID product that replaces both EM and barcodes in 2004].

Using NLP tools software the extraction of keywords, word frequency, expressiveness in titles, metaphor study of 1299 Hindi titles has been done. The selected keywords have been searched in the Hindi word net and Hindi thesaurus for the comparision of its vocabulary. The primary objective of the study is to prepare a tool for domain specific thesauri in the area of Hindi and its related areas.

Study was carried out to analyse the contents of Journal of Research (BAU) a bi-annual journal published on a regular basis since 1989. For basic analysis of the contents, all the papers published in 32 issues of the journal were tabulated and examined on the basis of subject coverage, research design and sampling techniques used. The study revealed that Animal Sciences and Fishery, Agronomy, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry and Plant Breeding and Genetics together contributed more than 50% of the papers published in the journal. Among animal science subjects Animal Breeding and Genetics, Parasitology, Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Public Health together contributed more than 58% of the papers. In majority of the studies (55.66%) experimental design was used. Among sampling techniques, purposive sampling was used in 51-92% cases.

In automating the library catalogue and other housekeeping activities of the library a challenging factor was to select a suitable software that would work with all Indian languages and scripts. The key issues in information retrieval in Indian languages and guidelines to retrieve the needed information in any Indian language based on the experience at CIIL Library in using VIRTUA - a library automation software package, with UNICODE support has been presented.

Trichoderma taxa associated with green mould disorder of edible mushrooms were isolated from both fruit bodies and substrates of Agaricus bisporus, A. bitorquis, Calocybe indica, Ganoderma lucidum, Lentinula edodes, Pleurotus sajor-caju, and Volvariella volvacea. Emerged fruiting bodies in the affected portion of the substrate were badly spotted, brownish in colour and reduced in both growth rate and yield performance. Microscopic examination of cultures revealed significant differences in fungal morphology, but were difficult to designate as Trichoderma species. The nucleotide sequence comparisons of 5.8S rRNA gene using BLAST network facilitated molecular identification and genetic cataloguing of 18 Trichoderma isolates into two taxa, namely T. harzianum and T. virens. RAPD primers exhibited both inter- and intra-specific variations among the test isolates and separated them into eight distinct phyloge-netic sub-clades. The study underlines the potential threat of green mould disorders in cultivated mushrooms and validates existence of significant intraspecific diversity in isolates of both T. harzianum and T. virens.

The study tries to find a solulion for the practical problems involved in rendering Indie names while cataloging with special reference to Telugu books Based on different methodologies generally applied to select the entry element in the author's name, an Authority list of writers in Telugu is drawn and annexed. The same problem is tackled in the digital environment also and all the possible ways to retrieve through author search are discussed.

Some easily manageable information technologies that can be fruitfully utilized by academic libraries in a modern network environment has been discussed. Points out that librarians should learn to utilize similar technologies, in order to become significant partners in the academic activities in their institutions. Creation of a digital library of full text documents by using Unesco's WINISIS, easy management of audio and video documents in digital form, web enabling of Winsis database using apache server software and Genisisweb, digital library building using Greenstone, creation of database that facilitates easy opening of websites without having the hassles of remembering the difficult website address, making available all these digital services through a gateway of local homepage, etc. are briefly discussed. The WINISIS database described above can be copied into CD-ROM for wider distribution by using Genisis CD software. Details of Weblis - web-based free software for library cataloguing and circulation developed by using CDS/ISIS as back end - available for free download from internet has been provided. Web address of the manuals and tools used in the paper are also provided. In short, provides a narrow slit for modern libraries to enter into the wide world of helpful information technologies that can be used fruitfully in the modern libraries.
