Information is a prerequisite for the development of a Society. We are now in the information overload mode, with instant access to billions of pages of information at our fingertips. Yet the paradox remains that the right kind of information is still not available to the serious researcher working in an R & D organisation. The tools to retreve this vast amount of information are unable to cope with the exponential growth in information. The present article traces the origin and development of information/Knowledge Organization & Retrieval (KO&R) tools, te current status of R & D in this area and some recent initiatives at BARC in this direction.

The present study was conducted to determine the fate of manuscripts rejected by Indian Pediatrics (lP), and to identify the factors facilitating publication of a rejected manuscript elsewhere. Database (PubMed, IndMed) and Google searches were performed to trace the manuscripts published elsewhere any time after rejection by Indian pediatrics in the year 2002. Eighteen per cent of the rejected submissions (62 out of 347) were eventually (till July 2009) published elsewhere. These manuscripts subsequently appeared in 33 different journals; Indian Journal of Pediatrics published the maximum, numbers (n=22). Seventy four per cent of the rejected papers were published in journals with a impact factor lesser than Indian Pediatrics. Rejection before initiating peer-review, and rejection on the grounds of over-interpretation of results or poor statistical analysis diminished the chances of subsequent publication, whereas manuscripts rejected on grounds of poor originality or poor language had greater chances of being published elsewhere. Rejection of a manuscript by IP does not preclude publication, but rejected manuscripts are published more often in non-pediatric journals or journals with a lower impact factor, although the occasional exception exists.

Website constructions in the world have progressed at a fast pace. However, compared to the pace of development, the issue of benchmarking of the contents of official websites has not yet received adequate attention. The paper argues that with the proliferation of official web sites worldwide, data dissemination concepts as developed by the IMF need to be generalised towards information dissemination, with special reference to web-based dissemination. The paper, in this context, attempts to specify some common structural features in the contents of official websites that could act as potential benchmarks. It examines to what extent commonalities and differences prewil with respect to these benchmarks among the websites of a few official websides of a few leading international Qrganizations, as well as a few official websites in US and India. Analysis reveals that some degree of convergence has taken place among all official websites in (i) structuring the contents, and in (ii) providing a few basic facilities to the users. It is observed that none of the sites are fully compliant with respect to the criteria specified in the paper. Full compliance would, however, require limited effort and would mostly involve one-time uploading of specific materials. A few major limitations, however, appear to be more general. Observations suggest that in future more attention need to be focused on designing the headers and footers of web pages that can act as a general template for all official websites. More attention is also needed on providing information that would lead to more precise identification of web pages for user reference and documentation. the paper suggests some specific improvements in this regard, elaborating with examples. It also suggests a few other policy measures that could lead to more effective web-based information in official websites.

If we are using polygon in a image then these polygons consist of a large number of vertices; a boundary on a map can easily contain thousands of segments or more. Algorithms that operate on these kinds of polygonal objects often take quite a lot of time, expressed in the number of vertices of the object. We can reduce the vertices which are very close. Design polygon by reduced vertices are known as polygon approximation. This paper about these simplification methods and algorithm.

Computing is in a state of constant change. However, the paradigm of security in today's age of innovation is seldom constant. After the success of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO), now companies are considering Cloud Computing Outsourcing (CCO). Applications today are migrating towards the cloud. Cloud computing is a fresh flavor of outsourcing, possessing momentum and mindshare for solid reasons. With cloud computing, all our IT needs are taken away and given to a third party to manage. Companies tap their data and applications over internet and intranet instead of local servers. In today's economic climate, where IT budgets shrink, the Cloud Computing infrastructure reduces operating costs. The potential gains are enticing. However, companies become a little sensitive about data. The internet needs to be much more secure before users can move completely into the cloud. It is a very scary scenario. When we consider shared resources in feat that necessarily mean shared security risks. The evolving security matrix is complex and calls for coordination at the highest order. This paper focuses on technical security issues arising from the usage of cloud services.
