The influence of different media composition on the multiplication of the culture in relation to the production of metabolites that are of immense therapeutic value was evaluated in the present study. It was observed that the growth of the culture was significant on the media supplemented with tea extracts and also on the synthetic medium compared to the combination and control, even after 30 days of inoculation. Growth of the culture was observed in media that contained carbon, nitrogen and minerals compared to the tea supplemented with only sucrose. Glucuronic acid levels were high on the 5th day in all the culture filtrates obtained with different media except acetobacter media. The carbon source in the form of reducing sugars was observed to be high on the 5th day compared to 10th day of inoculation in all the treatments. Acetic acid was high on the 30th day of fermentation except in the natural medium, where the concentration was low. The acetic acid levels increased with the period of fermentation in the synthetic media, whereas the alcohol content was high in natural medium compared to the synthetic medium that reduced significantly with the period of fermentation. The alterations in the vitamin C content were significant with the type of media rather than the period of fermentation. Glucosamine in the natural media was markedly high compared to other media, whereas in the control it was not detected. Tea supplemented medium supported the production of glucuronic acid compared to the other media.

The investigation was undertaken with the object of studying the standard procedure of preparation of milk shake from buffalo milk blended with papaya and studied for its acceptability. Milk shake was prepared from different proportions of buffalo milk and papaya pulp i.e. 100:0 (TO), 90:10 (T1), 85:15 (T2) and 80:20 (T3). The sensory score for overall acceptability of papaya milk shake of treatments TO, T1, T2 and T3 were 8.18, 8.56, 8.23 and 8.03, respectively. It was observed that the papaya milk shake prepared from 90 parts of buffalo milk and 10 parts of papaya pulp was most acceptable and ranked between like very much to like extremely. The addition of higher proportion of pulp in the blend scored towards lower side by a panel of judges.

It is known that increase in mixing time helps carbon black disperse better in a polymer matrix. An experimental study was conducted to investigate the effect of mixing time on self-crosslinkable polyacrylic acid (PAA) and epoxidised natural rubber (ENR) blend, filled with HAF carbon black. The constituents were mixed at 180°C in a Brabender Plasticorder. Preliminary investigations show that there exits a critical mixing time, which varies with the filler loading as well as mixer rotor speed. The best dynamic mechanical and physical properties of the composites were obtained at the critical mixing time. These have been explained on the basis of maximum, interaction between the filler particles and the rubber matrix at the critical mixing time due to (i) increase in filler surface area of filler with increase in dispersion and (ii) enhancement of carbon black promoted chemical interaction between PAA and ENR. Further mixing beyond the critical mixing time results in poorer properties of the composites possibly because of mechano-chemical degradation of ENR chains.
