Non-linear oscillations of extensible cable connected satellites system in the central gravitational field of the earth under the combined effects of the solar radiation pressure and the magnetic field of the earth in circular orbit have been studied. The cable connecting the two satellites system is assumed to be a light, flexible, extensible and non-conducting in nature. The motion of earth of the satellite relative to their centre of mass has been studied, while the centre of mass of the system orbiting around the earth. The dipole of the earth has its axis inclined from the polar axis of the earth 11°4'. The presence of these forces enables the application of variation of arbitrary constant methods due to Malkin to the equation governing the non-linear oscillations of the system in non-resonance as well as resonance case. The system exhibits, stable behaviour in non-resonance case as well as in resonance.

Presentes experimental and theoretical analyses of data requirements for haplotype inference algorithms. The experiments include a broad range of problem sizes under two standard models of tree distribution and were designed to yield statistically robust results despite the size of the sample space. Results validate Gusfield's conjecture that a population size of n log n is required to give (with high probability) sufficient information to deduce the n haplotypes and their complete evolutionary history. The experimental results inspired theoretical bounds on the population size. Also analyzes the population size required to deduce some fixed fraction of the evolutionary history of a set of haplotypes and establish linear bounds on the required sample size. These linear bounds are also shown theroetically.

Large deflection analysis is carried out to determine the deflections and bending stresses for a clamped circular plate under non-uniform load following Berger's approximate method. The small deflection case is treated as a special case of large deflection. On account of the general nature of the load shape considered here, the solution of the problem yields many useful and interesting results. The significance of the present analysis lies in the fact that separate treatments for a number of cases may be avoided by this single treatment of the problem considered herein.

New theory and methods of solving variational problems of probability are given and applied to generalized maximum entropy problems. The cost functional and "moments" are generalized and the solution is efficiently found by now established analytical techniques or efficient and accurate numerical methods. It is shown that the classical maximum entropy problem is an immediate example of this theory. To illustrate the type of results for the general setting, the results for the classical problem are developed. This will give the reader a good idea as to what to expect for more general problems. In the chosen context with two moments, a simple second order differential equation in five dependent variables with appropriate boundary conditions, is obtained, which leads to the unique solution. In addition, previous work by the second author gives an efficient numerical algorithm with a priori, global, error of O(h²), where h is the node size. Alternately, it is shown that this problem has a less familiar solution of a second order ODE with two parameters, each of which is associated with a moment isoperimetric constraint. Finally, because these problems fit within the second author's theory of constraint optimization, we can easily add additional reasonable constraints, inequality constraints, etc. to these problems.

As in the case of Real space form one is interested in obtaining conditions under which the submanifold of a Real space form is a real space form, finding conditions underwhich the submanifold M of the Einstein manifold is an Einstein manifold. For a unit normal vector field N on the submanifold M, we say that the Einstein manifold M has constant mixed sectional curvature with respect to the submanifold M if the sectional curvatures of M of the plane sections spanned by the unit normal vector field N and a unit vector field on the submanifold are constant. In this paper we show that a totally umbilical submanifold M of an Einstein manifold (M, g) of constant mixed sectional curvature c is an Einstein manifold, (cf. Theorem 3.2). Also obtain condition under which a submanifold of an Einstein manifold is an intrinsic sphere. Finally, we otain a characterization for a submanifold of a Real space form to have parallel mean curvature vector field.

Thermodynamic stability of a few elementary chemical reactions has been investigated using the recently proposed theory named as "comprehensive thermodynamic theory of stability of irreversible process (CTTSIP)" which follows the steps of Lyapunov's second method (also termed as the direct method) of stability of motion. In CTTSIP the excess rate of entropy production is defined as thermodynamic Lyapunov function, L_s and the perturbation coordinates, α₁'s are defined using the thermodynamic variables and their perturbed values based on the appropriate thermodynamic framework. To simplify and systematize the use of this apparatus, that a CTTSIP, the entropy source strength. Σ_s, and L_s, are expanded in Taylor's series about the unperturbed trajectory, in terms of the perturbation coordinates, αi'S. In this paper we have studied the thermodynamic stability against sufficiently small homogeneous temperature perturbation of the following model chemical conversions, namely : A → X, A + X, → 2X, A ↔ X and A + X ↔ 2X. The cases of when system is operated at equilibrium and away from equilibrium have been analyzed. This investigation establishes the domains of thermodynamic stability, asymptotic stability and stability under constantly acting small disturbances. Also this analysis reveals whey Le Chatelier type rule cannot be evolved for reactions proceeding at a finite rate.

Considering the various types of initial data author investigate the behaviour of radial null geodesies near the central singularities, in (N + 2)-dimensional dust collapse. It has been observed that there exists a family of infinitely many radial null geodesies (RNGs) coming out from the singularity along the direction of the root in N = 2 and N = 3 cases only. For N ≥ 4, there is only one RNG coming out along the direction of the root, whereas there is a family of RNGs coming out from the singularity along the apparent horizon direction in all (N + 2)-dimensional spacetimes.

Flow through a, curved square duct with small curvature is numerically studied by using the spectral method over a wide range of the Dean number, Dn, 100 ≤ Dn ≤ 4000. First, steady solutions are obtained by the Newton-Raphson iteration method. As a result, author obtain three branches of symmetric/asymmetric steady solutions with a bifurcation relationship among the branches. Linear stability of the steady solutions is then investigated. It is found that only the first branch, which exists throughout the whole range of the Dean number of the present study, is linearly stable while the other two branches are linearly unstable. Then, in order to study the nonlinear behaviour of the unsteady solutions, time evolution calculations are performed for the Dean numbers at which no stable steady solution exists, and it is found that the steady flow turns into chaos through periodic or multi-periodic flows if the Dean number is increased.

Goal to present a new method for finding approximation of eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of the one-dimensional Schrodinger operator. The novelty of the method is that it is based on construction of exponentially increasing solutions.
