The Kinetics of suppression of ACTH levels by corticosteroid administration in patients with non-stress ACTH hypersecretion secondary to hypoadrenocorticism. Cortisol was administered according to different protocols, which were chosen to provide extreme variations of the input signal, two phases of suppression of ACTH tevels could be differentiated. The first decrease occurred without latency whenever, and as long as plasma cortisol levels were rising. There was a linear regression between the logarithm of the increments in cortisol concentration and decrease in ACTH levels per minute. A second decrease in ACTH levels began equivalent to 30 minutes after corticosteroid administration, there was a significant linear regression between the degree of inhibition of ACTH levels and the cortisol doses. A mathematical model is to determine an optimal policy so that the availability of the system is high enough at any time and the long run expected cost per unit time is minimized. An explicit expression for the long run expected cost per unit time as derived. By using geometric model with the exponential distribution the corresponding results are obtained and the conclusion coincide with the medical report.

The inability to predict the hyper secretion of acid and difficulty in applying the traditional valuation methods, induced to apply the results on both the steadystate and the transient behaviour of the model to study the size distribution of effects of ranitidine on hypersecretion of acid. The application part is fitted with the mathematical model and conclusion is compared with medical report.

A theoretical study of an incompressible conducting second-order viscoelastic fluid (governed by Rivilin-Ericksen constitution equation) flowing down an open inclined rectangular channel under gravity and under the influence of uniform transverse magnetic field (in the absence of any input electric field) with pressure gradient as an arbitrary function of time has been made. The free surface is exposed to atmospheric pressure and a uniform tangential stress in the direction of the flow has been applied. The flux across the cross-section of the channel has been calculated by taking the tangential stress in the direction of flow to be zero and results for constant pressure gradient, preriodic pressure gradient and impulsive pressure gradient have also been deduced. It has been assumed here that the fluid is of small electrical conductivity so that the induced magnetic field can be neglected. The size and shape of the cross-section are constant along the length of the channel. It is observed that, the applied magnetic field reduces the velocity distribution in the channel as well as volume flow rate and pressure in the flow field.

Growth hormone (GH) secretion is augmented under catabolic conditions of fasting and stress and by certain amino acids. GH secretion is also increased during physical activity. In contrast, GH release is inhibited by food intake and an increase in blood glucose, high serum free fatty acids, and obesity. GH plays a major role in the metabolism and storage of body lipids. Several observations have indicated that there are interactions between GH and epinephrine. One major metabolic effect of epinephrine is a rapid mobilization of substrates from lipid deposits in adipose from glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscle. Epinephrine acts in synergy with GH to increase lipolysis. Among healthy adults, men have a higher output of epinephrine than women in response to physical activity or hypoglycemia. In the present study, the impact of gender, oral contraceptives, and ambulation on serum growth hormone (GH) and urinary catecholamines was examined in healthy young adults. This paper applies the periodic recoupment with minimal repair at failure to cumulative damage models. The recoupment from the stress at time T, at GH, epinephrine level N, or at damage Z, and undergoes quick recoupment between two successive GH, epinephrine levels. The mean cost rate in terms of GH, epinephrine levels is obtained and the optimal T* to minimize the cost-rate is discussed.

The chief object of the present paper is to brood over the approximation properties and the rate of convergence of the Fourier series of a 2π-periodic continuous function of bounded variation. As a matter of form, have taken here the (C, 1) means σ_n(f) of the partial sums of the Fourier series of as an approximant. This process will essentially help us in comparing the ordinary rate of convergence and (C, 1) rate of convergence of S_n (f, x) to f(x).

Stochastic Banking models (S.B.Ms) occupy in important place in modern research, dealing with cash flow analysis of a Banking system. Knowledge about the reserve level of a Banking system, play a vital role in many Fiscal policies of any economy. To have prospective and fruitful economic plans, one must have a prior knowledge about the cash reserve level available with the nation, without which the plans will be vague and ineffective. Hence in 1983 [1] proposed a stochastic banking model (S.B.M) with a critical reserve level (C> 0) and obtain many results relating to the reserve level X (t) available with the system at any given time t < 0, (Vide ref. 2). Later in 1991, Sarma and Pushpanjali [3] Proposed a S.B.M. with general linear rate of inputs and obtained explicit expressions of M/G/1/FIFO/K and G/M/1/FIFO/K S.B.Ms. Further in 1995, Sarma and Sarma [4] obtained results of S.B.Ms where withdrawals or interwithdrawals are assume to follow an Erlangian distribution. The application of this distribution to S.B.M. has more practical relevance because the reservice of a customer in a Bank consists of different phases like issuing of tokens, passing of the amount, making suitable entries and so on. Thus more and more practically relevant assumptions were brought in to the model, so that the S.B.M. suggested in 1983 is more and more closer to the reality. In this paper a practically valid and more essential assumption namely "Lower Truncation of Inter -Withdrawal Times" is incorporated into the Stochastic Banking Model in order to make the model more closer to reality and to increase the application potentiality of the model. An analytic solution of a Mτ/M/1/FIFO/ Stochastic Banking Model (S.B.M) is obtained, Where M_T represents a left truncated Law governing the random variable of inter-withdrawal times.

Flow of viscous stratified liquid of variable viscosity between a porous bed and an impermeable plate in presence of transverse magnetic fluid has been studied. Studied the effect of stratification factor β porosity factor σ and slip parameter α on the boundary layer 8 of such flow. Also have studied the variation 8 with the variation of M, the Hartmann number and it is seen that δ decreases with the increase of M keeping n and α fixed. Also for fixed values of n and M, it is seen that δ increases with the increase of α. Also when the stratification factor n is increasing, it is seen δ, the boundary layer also increases when α M are kept fixed. Thus starting from Prondtl's boundary layer equation, we can conclude that for a porous media when the porosity factor increases, the boundary layer 5 also increase.

In the present paper we-have studied the effects of stratification factor, porosity factor and slip parameter on the slip velocity and velocity profile of the flow of viscous stratified fluid under the influence of pressure gradient. It has been observed that if σ = 2α, W_B velocity vanishes and W_B increases with the increase in the value of R (Reynolds's number) and also W_B increases when σ< 2 α. but the back motion in the slip velocity occurs for values of sigma σ greater than that of 2α. The distribution of velocity is numerical evaluated against α for fixed values of n and α and has been conclude from the graph that Reynolds number, porosity factors (σ< 2α). Is favourable to the motion but retardation in the flow begins when σ> 2α and independently on R.

In the present note, the motion of viscous incompressible fluid through the annulus of two smooth concentric infinite circular cylinders with axial roughness. The motion is originally set up by pressure gradient acting in the direction of the common axis of the cyliders. The solution for the problem is obtained by applying complex Fourier transform. The distribution of velocity in the radial and axial direction have been calculated and in the central region the nature of the flow have been depicted in figs, 1 and 2 and it is found for roughness of the wall the nature of distribution of velocity seems to be oscillatory in nature.

Investigate Soret effect on the convective heat and mass transfer flow through a porous medium in a horizontal wavy channel in the presence heat generating source with raidation. The walls of the boundaries are maintained at non-uniform temperature. A secondary velocity develops in view of the non-uniformity in the boundary as well as boundary temperature. The governing non-linear momentum, the energy and the diffusion equations are non-dimensionlized to obtain the governing parameters viz., Rayleigh number, Reynolds number, Buoyancy ratio and Darcy parameter. These non-linear equations are solved using perturbation scheme. The velocity, the temperature and the concentration are obtained analytically and their behaviour for different variations in the governing parameters is discussed computationally.

An attempt has been made to find out the application and importance of a certain product of special functions viz. a general class of polynomials with H- function of general nature in the theory of electric circuit. The value of the charge at any time t in a simple electric circuit consisting of a resistance, an inductance, a capacitance and a source of electromotive force E₀ P(t) can be easily obtained for specific values of P(t). If P(t) is taken in terms of the product of a general class of polynomials and the H- function, the value of the charge thus obtained unifies the scattered results got by taking its values in terms of other simpler special functions. This is on account of the fact that a general class of polynomials and the H-function are one of the most general functions and almost all the important functions occurring in Physics and Electrical Engineering viz. Lorenzo-Hartley R-function, reduced Green function, generalized Riemann Zeta function, generalized Mittag-Leffler function etc. are its particular cases. Moreover, the product of a general class of polynomials and the H- function is expressible in terms of Fourier series, hence even if P(t) is given in terms of Fourier series, we can obtain the value of the charge.
