In this paper author studied the effect of temperature modulation and rotation on the onset of thermal instability in a horizontal fluid layer, which is heated from below and cooled from above. Perturbation method is adopted to make a linear stability analysis of the problem. A time-dependent periodic perturbation is applied to the surfaces temperature and the effect of temperature modulationhas been studied. The correction to the critical Rayleigh number is calculated, as a function of frequency of modulation, Taylor number and Prandtl number. The effect of temperature modulation is found to advance or delay the onset of convection. Further the effect of rotation on modulated thermal instability is found to stabilize or destabilize the system.

This paper presents the effect of gravity modulation on the onset of double diffusive convection in a fluid saturated porous medium, using Brinkman-Darcy model. The gravitational field is considered to be having two parts; a steady part and a time dependent periodic part, which can be created by shaking the fluid. Only infinitesimal disturbances are considered. Galerkin method is used to solve the problem and Floquet theory to discuss the stability of the solution. The critical Rayleigh number is calculated as a function of frequency and amplitude of modulation, Vadasz number, Darcy number, diffusivity ratio, viscosity ratio and solute Rayleigh number. Stabilizing effect of modulation on the onset of double diffusive convection has been discussed. The effects of some other parameters on the stability of the system are also discussed. Further the results corresponding to the Brinkman and Darcy models have been compared.

The results are presented in graphical form. It is observed that all these above characteristics register increase with increasing magnetization parameter. Furthermore the performance of bearing with magnetic fluid lubricant is relatively better than that with the conventional lubricant.

In real world many queueing situations may arise in which, the customers may balk or renege due to impatience in case of long queue. In such cases, the provision of additional servers can reduce the balking behavior of the customer. The customers arrive in Poisson process and are served according to exponential distribution by a pool of permanent and additional servers on the basis of FCFS discipline. The customers are allowed to depart from the system in the same chronological order in which they join the system, due to nopassing restriction. The system has tvo types of customers. The first type of customers have zero service time and have lo wait due to nopassing restriction. The second types of customers have exponential service lime and have to wail for service if no server is available. The analytical expressions to determine the steady-state queue size distribution, average number of customers in the system and the expected wailing time for both types of customers have been obtained by using the product type solution. Some particular cases are deduced by setting appropriate parameters.

If the queue size is β(0 ≤ β ≤ a - 1) the server awaits until the queue size becomes 'a'. Presents the steady state probability of the number of customers in the queue. Numerical results are obtained.

The complex analysis is not an independent subject but it is a resultant of two subjects Two-dimensional Co-ordinate Geometry and Vector Analysis in two-dimension. Infact the algebra of imaginary numbers will give a new mathematical system which may be named as "Imaginary Analysis".

In this study new aspects of principle of equivalence are expressed. Einstein developed principle of equivalence in 1911 before publishing the general theory of relativity in 1915. In principle of equivalence Einstein explained that the gravitational mass and inertial mass are the same (Good, 1974). But it is not clearly mentioned either the two masses are independently equal or inertial mass is dependent on gravitational mass. So principle of equivalence needs more elaboration. Body possesses definite shape, size and density but it can not express mass without the help of gravitation. Material body is dependent on gravitation. Beyond the field of gravitation, body is unable to express mass. Thus body is not equivalent to gravitation and inertial mass is not equal to gravitational mass. Again as per mutual attraction, body gets mass. If the attraction as well as density of the body is more, mass of the body is more and vice versa. There fore, the relation between gravitation and body is proportional instead of equal. This idea is quite absent from the principle of equivalence.

Approximate solutions have been obtained for velocity, temperature and concentration fields using multiparameter perturbation technique. The effects of various parameters have been discussed and shown graphically on velocity, temperature and concentration.

Quality Control professionals are accustomed to use the traditional x and R control charts to monitor stability of a process output. Use of these charts is based on the assumption that the process variable follows normal distribution. The control limits are generally taken as the 3σ limits of normal distribution with the understanding that the large sampling distribution of any statistic based orra sample is normal distribution. Hence in literature a number of variable control charts like x-chart, Range chart, Mid Range chart, Median chart, Sloping control chart, Moving average control chart etc. have become popular. Large sampling distribution of a statistic being normal cannot be reasonable justification to adopt it in quality control as usually samples of size 10 or fewer items are taken in industrial data. Quality characteristics such as product life are often modeled by a positive valued random variable. In this paper the process variate of a quality characteristic is assumed to follow a double exponential distribution. The well-known Shewart control charts for the process mean namely x-chart, Median chart and Mid range chart are considered in the situation of double exponential model for the process variate. The control limits for each chart are derived. The performance of the suggested control limits is studied in relation to Shewart control chart. The results are explained with an example. The control chart similar to the range chart is also presented with example.

Studied Laminar steady flow between two parallel plates situated at a distance and are at rest. For low Hartmann number, the velocity of the flow decreases rapidly in middle of the plates and then it decreases slowly near the plates. But for large Hartmann number, the velocity of the flow decreases slowly in the middle of the plates and then it decreases rapidly near the plates. For Hartman number > 20 the velocity of the flow becomes nearly equal to unity except at plates. It is found that magnetic strength increases numerically from the middle of the plates to very near to the plates, then it decreases to the plates.

A complete description of the solutions is presented and values of velocity profiles are obtained. The radial shearing stress has also been obtained at the wall and center of the pipe.
