Flow of a Newtonian fluid between two infinite parallel plates is considered. The plates are coated with porous material. The flow considered in between the plates will become two layered flow. This has analogy with blood flow which is considered to be two layered flow. The expressions for velocity in the porous region and clear region are obtained. The effect of the permeability coefficient on the flow for different situations is discussed. The effect of the Reynold number and the coefficient of viscosity on increasing the porous layer thickness is examined.

Develops the parametric programming approach to derive the membership functions of the steady state performance measures in FM/FM/I queuing system in which the arrival rate and service rate are fuzzy numbers. The discussion is confined to systems with the fuzzy variables, nevertheless the procedure can be extended to the systems with more than two fuzzy variables.

The personnel in any organization, industry leave the organization due to unsatisfactory pay revision perquisites promotion policies and targets. The wastages will lead to frequents recruitment which will be expensive. Hence preventive strategies are adopted so as to minimize the loss of manpower. This will allow the recruitment to be postponed. Assuming that the wastage on successive occasions can be allowed to cumulate till it reaches, a level called threshold, at which recruitment becomes inevitable, the expression for the expected time to recruitment and its variance are derived.

Past four decades Magnetohydrodynamics has been studied extensively. The Stress-energy momentum tensor for Magnetofluid reveals very interesting properties of Magnetofluid. For thermodynamical perfect fluid with infinite electric conductivity and constant magnetic permeability, some results are obtained and applied to gravitational collapse. The ratio of energy density due to magnetic field and energy density due to matter gives the result that, magnetic field dominates if the ratio is very very great as compared to unity. In case of Zel'dovich's fluid, p = p/c<^>2 and during collapse the decrease in magnetic field is compensated by the increase in matter energy density. In pulsar, magnetic field should not be orthogonal to the rotational vector.

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) assigns a score to each production unit (decision making unit - DMU) considered in the analysis. Such score indicates whether the unit is efficient or not. For inefficient units, it also identifies a hypothetical value as the target and thus suggests improvements to their efficiency. These suggestions are not applicable to some DMUs because they have lower efficiency values and thus it becomes very difficult to reach the efficient frontier. On the other hand, based on a DEA no further improvement for efficient units can be indicated. Nevertheless, it is important for management to assign applicable target for units. Based on possible variations in the input and output levels of DMUs, for efficient DMUs, new units which are more efficient than DEA efficient units can be created to form a new improved frontier. In the new PPS inefficient DMUs have new and high score efficiency. Available bank branch data was used to illustrate the applicability of this theoretical development. All types of failure rates are exponential while repair rates are distributed quite generally. All the repairs follow Head of line Repair Policy. Supplementary variable technique has been employed to obtain various state probabilities and then the expressions of operational availability, reliability, mean time to system failure and profit function are obtained by inversion process. Some graphs are plotted to explain the ergodic behaviour of the system.

Problem is concerned with the determination of displacements and stresses in a large thick plate of transversely isotropic material occupying the space z <60> h under normal loads on its plane faces. These loads are functions of r where (r, 0, z) defines cylindrical co-ordinates of a point. These loads are expressed in terms of Fourier-Bessel integral. The numerical codes prepared for this problem is for an arbitrary choice of the normal loads. The numerical estimates of displacements and stresses have been obtained and depicted graphically. It is observed that for fixed r the magnitudes of the displacements as well as stresses are almost the same at different depths when the magnitudes of the loads are equal, whereas when the latter quantities are unequal the differences of the magnitudes are significant.

The exact bias functions and the mean squared error matrices of the proposed estimators are derived. Their performances are compared using the mean squared error approach. It was noticed that contrary to the quadratic risks analysis, the James-Stein type estimators do not uniformly dominate the classical estimator.

Numerical illustrations have been given for fitting of the Generalized Pareto Distribution considering real life data on a sample of Jammu and Kashmir population.

Estimator for the estimation of population variance using ratio type estimator has been proposed, its bias and mean square error (MSE) are found and a comparative study with the conventional mean per unit unbiased estimator is provided. An empirical example showing the increased efficiency of proposed estimator over mean per unit estimator is also included as an illustration.

This paper is devoted to give some properties of generalized soft subgroups with respect to a variety of groups v, which generalizes the work of Blackburn and Hethelyi and Hethelyi with respect to the abelian variety. It is shown that if A is a v-soft subgroup of index greater than p, then the A-invariant subgroups of V(G)v* (Ng(A)) containing V(Ng(A)) form a chain and also shown that if the p-group G has a uniserially embedded subgroup Pof order p, then either G has a cyclic subgroup of index p or is of maximal class.

Obtained static and spherically symmetric self-gravitating solution of the field equations for anisotropic distribution of matter in higher-dimensional in the context of bimetric general theory of relativity proposed by Rosen(1980). This work is an extension of the previous work of Khadekar and Kandalkar (2004) for four dimensional space-time. For a physical system which is small compare to the size of universe, for example a solar system the solution agree with Einstein's general relativity, obtained by Hector Rago (1991) for n=2.

It has ben proved that the following conditions for λ-BRS rings are equivalent: R is aλ λX-sefr-injective; R is λ -linearly compact. If S∪T is an orthogonal set in R with S∩T = ∅ and | S ∪ T | ≤ λ then S has a left separation from T. authors also prove that each λ-prime ideal (λ-maximal right ideal) of a λ-BRS and λ-self-injective ring is generated by an idempotent. Finally, we prove that if the union of all minimal ideals of C(X) is an ideal of C(X), then C(X) is a λ-self-injective ring if and only if CF(X) is aλ-self-injective ring, where CF(X) denotes the socle of C(X).
