If the injective labelings of vertices edges and faces give rise to consecutive sums for each face, we say that the graphs has consecutive labeling. Consecutive labeling on ladder graphs has been studied.

Two problems to generalized thermoeiasticity are attempted by the eig envalue approach methodology along with integral transforms, in a transversely isotropic elastic medium. The first one considers the problem of thermoelastic disturbances when a line heat source acts in an infinite medium. The second one investigates the disturbances in an unbounded body with a cylindrical cavity with prescribed conditions on the boundary of the cavity. The basic equations of generalized thermoelasticity are written in the form of a vector matrix differential equation and solved by the eigenvalue approach. The results obtained are compared with the existing literature.

Classification of protein sequences using Maximum Likelihood Principle have been pvesented. A Mathematica module classify that calculates the probabilities which represent the class of a protein sequences has been developed. The probabilities are evaluated by this module using randomly generarated testing data, based on the norms of measurements which describe properties of protein sequences. A number of protein sequences can be classified at a time by this module. In order to demonstrate how this module works, in the applications section, randomly selected protein sequences have been classified in three groups, Globular, Surface Active and Transmembrane. The results of the classification are given in the tables in the form of the aposteriori probabilities. The module has successfuly classified all the protein sequences correctly.

The authors have already proved the uniform convergence of the periodic Walsh type wavelet packet series for L<^>p(R), 1 <60> p ± ∞. In this paper, the authors are generalizing the result to the uniform convergence of the periodic Walsh type wavelet packet series for L<^>p(R<^>d), 1 <60>P <60> ∞.

Pulsatile flow of blood through a stenosed porous medium has been studied under the influence of body acceleration. With the help of Laplace and finite Hankel transform, analytical expression for axial velocity, fluid acceleration, flow rate and shear stress have been obtained. It is of interest to note that these solutions can be used for all the feasible values of pulsatile and body acceleration Reynolds number Rep and Reb. This is in contrast with the existing results where different approximate solutions have to be used for different ranges of Rep and Reb. Using physiological data, the following qualitative and quantitative results have been obtained. Then amplitude of the instantaneous volume flow rate, for flows with body acceleration, decreases sharply as the tube radius decreases (from aorta to arteriole). This variation of amplitude is very slow for flows with no body acceleration. Another interesting result is the maximum of the axial velocity and fluid acceleration shifts from the tube axis to the vicinity of the tube wall as the tube diameter increases. The variation of the amplitude of wall shear with tube diameter (aorta to coronary) is less for flows with body acceleration than that of flows with no body acceleration. The phase lag between pressure gradient and flow rate changes sharply with tube diameter in narrow tubes, it varies asymptotically in wide tubes. The obtained results are qualitatively in good agreement with existing theoretical observations. Quantitatively, they differ from the other theoretical results. The difference in the results of the analyses decreases as the tube diameter increases.

Analysis is carried out to study the effects of variable viscosity, thermal conductivity, magnetic field on the flow, and heat and mass transfer of electrically conducting fluid past a stretching permeable surface subject to suction/injection. The mass transfer equation includes the chemical reactive species of first order, and the heat equation includes the internal heat generation or absorption. The concentration and temperature conditions are assumed to be a function of distance from the origin. The governing partial differential equations for this investigation are transformed into ordinary differential equations which are solved numerically. Numerical results are presented for the distribution of velocity and temperature fields within the boundary layer. Several closed form analytical solutions are obtained for special conditions.

Problem of unsteady free convective MHD flow of viscous in compressible and electrically conducting fluid through a porous medium bounded by an infinite vertical porous plate in the presence of constant suction and heat absorbing sinks is presented. An uniform magnetic field is applied normal to the plate. The equations governing the fluid flow and heat transfer have been.solved subject to the relevant boundary conditions by using multi-parameter perturbation technique. It is noticed that increase in permeability of porous medium increases the velocity of the fluid. Also the mean skin friction and mean rate of heat transfer of the conducting fluid has the reverse effect for the permeability of porous medium.

HIV blips may not be accidental

Model consisting of five first order ODE's to model the progression of HIV from infection to AIDS is presented. The model clarifies the role of protease inhibitors and reverse transcriptase inhibitors in this progression. Also shows that, depending upon the viral activity, the solution may exhibit progression to an endemic state, or what appears to be a limit cycle around this state. In this model, the disease may be eradicated by sufficiently strong doses of protease inhibitors or reverse transcriptase inhibitors or a combination thereof. An attempt is made to understand the phenomenon of hiv blips. It is proposed that these blips occur because of change in the infection coefficient.

Establishes a linkage between a Queue-network in series with a flow-shop scheduling system. The arrivals of items/jobs of fixed size are allowed to occur at each service channel from outside infinite source population. Here the waiting time of items/jobs in queue system from the setup time for first machine in the scheduling process. The objective of the study is to find an optimal sequence of items/jobs which minimize the total flow time of machines, when items/jobs are processed in a combined system. Finds the practical observation in the industries, where production is done in sequential stage and the arrivals of items are grouped in a bulk of fixed size for final production. A heuristic algorithm is derived and made clear through a numerical illustration.

Cost minimization deteriorating multi-item inventory model with price and frequency of advertisement-dependent demand is developed in fuzzy environment. The available warehouse space is limited for inventory storage. Total cost, warehouse space, inventory costs, deterioration rate are considered to be vague and imprecise. The vagueness of these parameters is represented by linear and non-linear (nth parabolic) membership functions. The fuzzy model is solved by fuzzy non-linear programming (FNLP) method and is illustrated with numerical example. The results of fuzzy model are compared with the result of crisp model. To study the effect of changes in various parameters on objective goal, a sensitivity analysis is presented.

Application of multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) for the arthritis data, where we have considered three types of arthritis viz.-osteo arthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and juvenile arthritis (JA) with corresponding control groups has been presented. The corresponding sample sizes are: OA - 100, RA - 150, JA - 41, adult control - 125, and juvenile control - 25. The analysis shows that various factors such as genetical, bio-chemical and epidemiological factors influence these types of arthritis. The objective of multiple correspondence analysis is to identify a low-dimensional subspace that comes closest to describe all of the data points. It is analogous to graphing the results of a factor analysis in a multidimensional Euclidean space. However, the space identified in multiple correspondence analysis is not Euclidean.

For estimating the mean of a finite population, a linear regression type estimator with unknown coefficient of variation is proposed. The bias (to the first order of approximation) of the proposed estimator is found, which comes out to be less than that of the usual regression estimator (where X_N, population mean of the auxiliary variable is estimated using double sampling), provided the distribution of the auxiliary variable is positively skewed. The M.S.E. of the proposed linear regression estimator (when coefficient of variation of auxiliary variable is not known) is obtained and it has been shown that it is equal to the M.S.E. of the usual linear regression estimator in double sampling. A Jack-Knifed linear regression estimator (when coefficient of variation of auxiliary variable is not known) has also been proposed. This estimator is shown to be unbiased. Its M.S.E. has been obtained and the M.S.E. of jack-knifed estimator is found and it is shown to be equal to the M.S.E. of the usual linear regression estimator.

Well known Pareto distribution is considered as a probability model for the life time of the product. Sampling plans in which items that are put to test, to collect the life of the items in order to decide upon accepting or rejecting a submitted lot, are called reliability test plans. For a given sample size, producer's risk and termination number, a test plan to determine waiting time to terminate the experiment is constructed. The preferability of the present test plan over similar plans is established with respect to time of the experiment. Results are also illustrated by an example.
