Analytic expressions for axial velocity, core region, peripheral layer and flow rate have been obtained by applying finite Hankel transform technique. The velocity variation for different parameters have been discussed and presented in the form of graphs. The result has been compared with existing theoretical models and is found in good agreement with the other results.

Introduced by Ellis Ott in 1967, the analysis of means (ANOM) procedure provides a simple graphical technique for testing the differences between the means of several populations. ANOM is an alternative to the well known ANOVA. The method is particularly well suited to quality practitioners because it resembles a control chart. ANOM can be applied to both variable data and attribute data. This paper is based on live data obtained from the spinning department of a spinning mill in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.. Both ANOM and ANOVA methods are used to analyze the data. The results of the study convey that ANOM procedures, sometimes, offer additional information when compared to the conventional ANOVA. This information is quite useful to the spinning superintendent in identifying the sources of variation and to take steps for improving the production of yarn.

We have developed an adaptive conjugate gradient neural networks learning Genetic Algorithm and applied it to the domains of engineering design. The problem of arbitrary trial and error selection of the learning and momentum ratios encountered in the momentum back propagation algorithm is circumvented in the new adaptive algorithm. It is shown that the adaptive neural networks algorithm has superior convergence property compared with the momentum backpropagation algorithm. The parallel hybrid-learning algorithm has been applied to engineering design.

Affected sib pair (ASP) analysis has become common ever since it was shown that, under very specific assumptions, ASPs afford a powerful design for linkage analysis. Vieland and Huang[15], on the basis of a "fundamental heterogeneity equation," proved that heterogeneity and epistasis are confounded in ASP linkage analysis. A much more serious limitaiton of ASP linkage analysis is the implicit assumption that randomly sampled sib pairs share half their alleles identical by descent at any locus, whereas a critical assumption underlying Vieland and Huang's proof is that of joint Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium proportions at two trait loci. These are considered as examples of mathematical assumptions that may not always reflect biological reality.

Product probability property, known in the literature as statistical independence, is examined first. Then generalized entropies are introduced, all of which give generalizations to Shannon entropy. It is shown that the nature of the rec.ursivity postulate automatically determines the logarithmic functional form for Shannon entropy. Due to the logarithmic nature, Shannon entropy naturally gives rise to additivity, when applied to situations having product probability property. It is argued that the natural process is non-additivity even in product probability property situations and additivity can hold due to the involvement of a recursivity postulate leading to a logarithmic function. Generalized entropies are introduced and some of their properties are examined. Particularly, situations are examined where a generalized entropy of order a leads to entropic pathway models, exhibiting exponential and power law behavior. Subsequently it is shown that these models link to distributional and differential pathways. Connection of the generalized entropy of order a to Kerridge's measure to create "inaccuracy" is also explored. Further for each of the three pathways their relevance to Tsallis statistics and Beck-Cohen super-statistics is emphasized.

Rotating flow of a viscous stratified fluid filling a porous medium bounded between two infinite horizontal disks has been considered. The disks are maintained at different temperatures causing a density stratification In the fluid. The whole system is in a state of rigid rotation about the vertical axis with a uniform angular velocity. Such a basic state of rigid rotation is possible and can be verified from the equations of motion. The whole system is disturbed by imposing a suction with a constant vertical velocity at the upper disk. The steady non-linear flow problem corresponding to this disturbed state is analysed. A numerical method known as Method of Adjoints is used to solve the non-linear two point boundary value problem numerically. The results obtained are graphically plotted and compared with already existing theories in the case of absence of a porous medium.

Further a generalization of distributive ideal to convex sublattice called distributive convex sublattice was introduced and studied by R. Natarajan. In the light of that generalization of dually distributive ideal for convex sublattice called dually distributive convex sublattice is introduced and studied. Many important properties of dually distributive convex sublattice are established.

Theoretical analysis of two dimensional flow of Revlin-Ericksen fluid through a porous medium has been done. The unsteady laminar flow of an elastico-viscous fluid suspended with a uniform distribution of non conducting dust particles in presence of uniform transverse magnetic field fixed relative to the plate which is applied perpendicular to the flow of fluid is considered. The velocity field for the conducting dusty fluid, non conducting dust particles and the skin friction at the plate are obtained for large value of time. The effect of magnetic field and the mass concentration of the dust particle an velocity and skin friction are discussed numerically:

The 1970, Kobayashi [6] has asked whether generic enough degree hypersurfaces in Pⁿ(C) are hyperbolic. This problem is still open. Shirosaki [10] and Fujimoto [4] constructed a hyperbolic hypersurface in P³(C) of degrees 10 and 8, respectively. That is the best result at present in P³(C). Authors construct a family of hyperbolic hypersurfaces in P²(C) of degree d ≥ 3 ε Z⁺, and a family of hyperbolic hypersurfaces in P³(C) of degree d ≥ 7 ε Z⁺.
