Earlier the authors proposed ROC curve analysis approach for analyzing 1000 Cancer Patients based on Blood Hemoglobin levels (Sarma et al 2009). Usually condition of a Patient, is to be determined based on various characteristics like Blood Hemoglobin (BH) levels, Serum Protein (SP) levels, Serum Creatinine (SC) levels. Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG) levels, Blood Pressure (BPS) (Systolic) levels. Blood Pressure (BPD) (Diastolic) levels and so on. So far in literature Receiver Operating Characteristic Analysis is available using single variable in Medical Research for Decision Making ( James 1988,Charles 2008, Sarma and Madan Mohan Babu 2009). A Multi-Variate approach is essential to take valid decisions about the condition of the patient in many clinical trials. This leads us to propose a new approach known as "Multi-Variate Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve Analysis (MVROCCA)". In Proposed the simplest Multi-Variate ROC curve approach based on three characteristics namely: 1) Blood Hemoglobin (BH) 2) Serum protein (SP) and 3) Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG). Data is collected on the above characteristics at two time points namely to and t₁ where t₁ = to+6 months. Now Multi-Variate ROC curve approach for above data is considered in this paper and conclusions were drawn based on the results obtained for General Patients. Here General Patients implies both male and female Cancer patients. Multi-Variate ROC Curves were obtained separately at two time points to and t₁ and comparisons were made critically on the Prognosis of Treatment in these 1000 cancer patients.

The study was conducted during the year 2007, in Mudigere and NR pura taluks of Chikmagalur district, with the objective to know the motivation for taking banana cultivation, sources of information about fertilizer, pesticides and seed material and marketing channels of banana growers. Majority of the farmers were motivated (48%) by themselves, reasons for taking banana cultivation were high yield and income, performing the banana cultivation practices based on their own experiences. About 65% of the respondents were using locally available seed materials. Major chunk of the farmers contacted banana traders for getting information about fertilizer and pesticides and selling their produce through local mandies.

Study on agricultural information flow has revealed that only 40 per cent farm households access information from one or the other source. The popular information sources among farmers have been reported to be fellow progressive farmers and input dealers, followed by mass media. The public extension system has been found to be accessed by only 5.7 per cent households. Only 4.8 per cent of the small farmers have access to public extension workers as compared to 12.4 per cent of large farmers. The sector-wise study on the type of information, sought has revealed that a majority of the farmers have sought information on seed (32-55%) in the cultivation sector; on health care (26-54 %) in animal husbandry; and on management and marketing (8-46 %) in fisheries. Regarding adoption of information by farmers, input dealers and other progressive farmers have depicted greater influence mainly due to easy and convenient access to these sources. The study has suggested promotion of farmers-led extension and strengthening of public extension services to improve coverage and efficiency of agricultural information delivery systems.

In 50 years, 1961 research papers have been published in the Journal of Marine Biological Association of India. The number of pages per paper decreased from 10.4 during 1974 -1978 to 5.6 during 2004 - 2008. On the other hand, the number of references quoted per paper increased from 9.2 during 1959 - 1963, to 17.2 during 2004 - 2008. The number of authors in a paper increased from 1.3 (1959 - 1963) to 2.8 (2004 - 2008). During 1959 - 1963, the women authors were only 1.3% which increased to 28.1% during 2004-2008. A total of 3789 authors affiliated to 356 institutions contributed papers. Of this, 162 are from international institutions and 194 are from India. Among the 194 institutions in India, which contributed research papers to JMBAI, 60 were from Tamil Nadu (including the Union Territory of Puducherry) followed by Kerala (36) and Maharashtra (32). Among 19 major subjects covered by the JMBAI, a large number of papers were published on biology such as food and feeding, life history, morphology, developmental biology etc (556 papers; 27.1%). The maximum research concentration was on the Infraclass Teleostii (560 papers; 33.8%), Class Crustacea (424 papers; 25.6%) and Class Bivalvia (119 papers; 7.2%).

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is emerging as an important factor in high performance at work. Workers performances depend on the external conditions or circumstances that exist when they are on their work. Rresearch indicate that cognitive processes are related to emotions and it plays a powerful role in cognitive processes. Human behaviour is governed by emotions. Understanding how a human behavior system works as a whole can be difficult because it requires blending information about human emotions and behavior in to a coherent whole that can be understood without reference to details of how its react at different situations. Generally within any organization, to implement any new project, implementers plan about configuration of project, task and sub tasks and then accordingly constitute the working teams that will perform the project. This team selection and decision making process is typically performed by a decision makers based on his/ her past experience and the available (though frequently scarce, uncertain and dynamic) information about the cognitive and personal characteristics and personal behavior of the available team members. Proposes a way to detect and model the workers emotions in order to improve the working efficiency at work place and the behavioral conditions of worker that should exist during executing any project or task activity according to the cognitive process activated. This paper presents concept of a Case based reasoning framework for computing human behavior and it aims to help decision makers in any organization in their decision-making process. With in purposed human behavior computational model different intelligent agents are used to model social human behavior at work, where human characteristics and behavior are represented and treated in terms of Cases, and meta-heuristic rules.

One such project is 'Gyandoot', an intranet-based Government-to-citizen service delivery portal commissioned in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh State in India in January 2002. The study was undertaken to find out the benefits and constraints of this project in order to evaluate its effectiveness. The study was conducted in four blocks of Dhar district with a sample size of 80 users. The 'most benefited' services were 'provision of facilitation of land records' and 'village auction site'. The most severe constraints as perceived by the respondents were 'power breakdown', 'poor transport facilities' and 'more service charges'.

Prevalence of work-related neck; pain among library professionals is much higher than in the general population. The costs to the worker, employer and society associated with work-related neck pain are considerable and escalating. The factors that place library professionals at greater risk of developing neck pain are not clearly understood. The present study was conducted to survey the incidence and risk factors of work-related neck pain among library professionals in academic libraries in and around Chennai. The prevalence of neck pain among library professionals was 56%. Those working in the circulation section expressed the incidence more than those working in other sections. Gender-wise analysis revealed that females suffered more neck pain compared to males. Wrong neck posture was the main risk factor for neck pain followed by inadequate breaks, presence of psychological distress, increased duration of daily sitting at work and being female. Studies such as the present one can be useful for identification of factors that predict neck pain incidence among library professionals that would be critical in the provision of preventative workplace interventions and formulation of occupational health and safety policies covering library professionals.

Presents an overview and so: case studies of interfacing and mutual synergy between Tamil studies on the one hand and knowledge organizing tools on the other. The case studies arose from the ongoing work of designing and developing a Tamil-English bilingual information retrieval thesaurus for the digital library of the Central Institute for Classical Tamil, Chennai, naming practices and the related cultural practices, homonyms and homographs, literary devices and a new semantic relationship category (pseudo-antonym). An analysis of the nature of relationships between concepts in the bilingual thesaurus could be used as the basis for identifying ontological categories. Such studies of interfacing gives scope for comparative studies, knowledge discovery and identification of areas for further research in Tamil studies and in the field of knowledge organizing tools.

Briefly describes the demonstration of the application of mobile telephony to enable access to and delivery of literacy to vast numbers of rural children in India. The thee projects (MILLEE, Idea Cellular, AKSHY A) briefly described here have as one of their laudable social objectives "Education for All." The mobile learning and teaching strategy offers an affordable solution to overcome or bypass the several barriers and obstacles to deliver learning to rural children. With the extension of broadband and 3-0 facilities to cover rural areas the rural literacy will receive a great push. The co-creation of content is stressed: teachers familiar with the specific rural environment, parents, and elders in the rural area, people with local language competence. social-anthropologists, and others concerned with development of rural children should collaborate with the technical personnel, image creators and media artists in co-creating innovative, relevant lessons and messages for delivery to the rural Children.

A webometric case study of 13 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).is presented. The analysis shows that the IIT, Bombay occupies the first place among the 13 IITs and the IIMs based on both absolute and logarithm values.
