Open access publishing is growing in importance, and, in parallel, the role of institutional archives has come to the forefront of discussion within the library community. The present study is an attempt to analyse the present trend of institutional archives worldwide. The factual data of each individual repository was collected from various Directories of Institutional Repositories by using survey method. Data was analysed in terms of quantity of institutional archives increased during last six years, country-wise contents of institutional archives, types of materials archived, subject coverage, software used, language of interface of institutional archives, host domains, and policy of institutional archives. The results of the study suggest healthy growth in terms of quantity of institutional archives' increase worldwide, however, the development is more prevalent in developed countries than developing countries. The subject analysis of the institutional archives indicates that the contributors in the field of health and medicine are more interested to submit their materials in repositories. Currently the institutional archives mostly house traditional (print-oriented) scholarly publications and grey literature, using DSpace software and most of these materials were of English language. However, the policy of content inclusion, submission and preservation is yet to be well defined in institutional archives.

The paper analyses the relevant provisions of the General Financial Rules of Government of India and suggests some measures for curtailing mutilation or theft of library materials. The paper also stresses that stock verification is secondary in comparison to the larger interests of providing effective services in a modern library. The increasing emphasis put on electronic access made it possible for bocks and journals to be accessed in electronic form may leave mutilation/theft of resources a non-issue. It is time for Government and Institutional heads to make suitable amends in the stock verification rules without jeopardizing the service ideals of a library. There must be concerted efforts from library professionals and professional associations to get the punitive clauses amended at the earliest for improving the collection access and information services in libraries.

DESIDOC J Libr Inf Technol 2010, 30(2), 26-39.
A library has a large number of databases from which information can be extracted. But data retrieved is superficial and indicates only about the transactions of library. To predict and anticipate the future issue patterns such as what kind of books might be in demand more or what is the taste of majority of users, can only be found by mining the information from the data of library. The library circulation data does not indicate much about the relationship between the users based on the books got issued by them. The aim of this paper is to develop communities based on the issue patterns and find how many similar users are there and which type of books a particular group of users prefer to read. So, the idea is to form a community-based on relationships among the library users and books and visualise the generated relationship through a graph to present the extracted information from the database more effectively. This is possible by finding the hidden relationships in data through community mining process, which has been done by identifying the relationship of users from library circulation data.

The precise relation of maxillary and mandibular casts is an essential step in developing accurate occlusion in fixed prosthodontics. When an adequate number of opposing teeth and stable intercuspation exist, direct occlusion of the casts is the most accurate method of articulation. In the absence of definitive occlusal contacts for direct relation of the casts, an interocclusal record is required. This becomes even more important when the distal tooth in the arch is also an abutment in the fixed partial denture. This article reviews various techniques for recording interocclusal relationship in fixed prosthodontic procedures.

Amelogenesis Imperfecta (Al) is a diverse collection of inherited diseases that exhibit quantitative or qualitative tooth enamel defects in the absence of systemic manifestations. The Al trait can be transmitted by either autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive or X-linked modes of inheritance. Mutations in the amelogenin, enamelin, and kallikrein-4 genes have been demonstrated to result in different types of Al and a number of other genes critical to enamel formation have also been identified and proposed as candidates for Al. Variants of Al generally are classified as hypoplastic, hypocalcified, or hypomaturation types based on the primary enamel defect and teeth affected may be discoloured, sensitive or prone to disintegration. This defect is entirely ectodermal, since mesodermal components of the teeth are normal. It is necessary to diagnose the case and provide durable functional and esthetic management of these patients, as the unaesthetic appearance has a definite negative psychological impact. This article presents a case report of 26 years female patient with Amelogenesis imperfecta.

Every public library in the community is unique and different in one way or the other by the community needs and services required by those it services, it should be reflected in distribution of manpower, also posting of the staff of the same job description and qualification is duplication of services and resources. Without diversifying and prioritizing services, duplication can deny users fundamental professional library information services like provision of subject analysis, statistical information and users' guidance. In assisting information users to access and use not only online information services but also access other websites services the role of public libraries within the information age context is changing from that of information provider to that of service provider and so is the roles of librarians; changing its old-age manual operations of print to print service to that of library networking to facilitate information sharing services and activities fundamentally requires the new dimension of trained manpower in ICT. In this paper manpower development, distribution and qualification in public libraries in Kenya has been discussed.

The present approach towards partnership, networking, consortia and resource sharing adopted by Indian libraries need radical changes to evolve responsive partnerships in order to achieve best performance in service. The current practices of journal acquisition in most of the veterinary college libraries in India are print based; in which each library is an island with regard to access of information. Moreover, there is wide disparity in the availability and use of information among different universities and colleges. But, consortia based acquisition and electronic desktop delivery of information can eliminate this gulf and increase the access and use considerably. This paper depicts the benefits of library consortia, analyses the present trend in the formation of consortia in India and suggests a new model of library consortia in which all veterinary college libraries could participate. The formation of such an unique consortia under the direction and full support by the ICAR, New Delhi is stressed. This paper proposes to form consortia of veterinary college libraries in India. Also discusses major consortia initiatives of India, elements of resource consortia and proposed model of consortia. To develop these libraries and to put in to more use at maximum extent there is a need of resources consortia of e-journals for the academic benefit.

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a wonderful tissue engineering product and has gained much popularity due its promising results in wound healing. PRP being a rich source of autologous growth factors can be used in many areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery. In the last 5 years, many studies about autogenous platelet-rich plasma have been undertaken pointing out its regenerative and reparative properties on tissues. The features of this product are an attribute of platelet cells, which, after cellular interactions, release growth factors. These molecules promote tissue healing and also induce cellular regeneration. Autologous platelet gel or concentrate (PRP) can be used alone or in association with bone graft for the treatment of bony defect, cystic lesions, alveolar bone defects, and periodontal pockets and particularly in patients with coagulation diseases. We present a case illustrating the use of PRP in bony regeneration after enucleation of dentigerous cyst in anterior maxilla.
