Detecting outliers in high dimension datasets remains a challenging task. Under this circumstance, robust location and scale estimators are usually proposed in place of the classical estimators. Recently, a new robust estimator for multivariate data known as minimum variance vector (MVV) was introduced. Besides inheriting the nice properties of the famous MCD estimator, MVV is computationally more efficient. This paper proposes MVV to detect outliers via Mahalanobis squared distance (MSD). The results revealed that MW is more effective in detecting outliers and in controlling Type I error compared with MCD.

These are then synthesized into a sound-wave embodying the "swan song" of the surfaces as the evolve to points and vanish. The surface is approximated by a triangulation, and presented a robust approach to approximate the normal directions and the mean curvature. The resulting video and sound-track were parts in the Jane Philbrick's exhibition "Everything Trembles" in Lund, Sweden, 2009.

Approximate analytical expression for the concentration of organic carbon in waste, organic in leachate, carbon dioxide, oxygen and aerobic microorganism in the waste are derived using a special Homotopy method. These analytical results are compared with the simulation results and experimental result. Satisfactory agreement is noted.

A set S of vertices of a graph G is a total neighborhood set of G if G is the union of the subgraphs induced by the closed neighborhoods of the vertices in 5 and for every vertex u∈ V there exists a vertex v ∈ 5 such that u is adjacent to v. The total neighborhood number n_t(G) of G is the minimum cardinality of a total neighborhood set of G. A total neighborhood nomatic partition of G is a partition {V₁, V₂,..., V_k} of Fin which each V_im(G) of G is the maximum order of a partition of the vertex set of G into total neighborhood sets. In this paper, and obtain results about two parameters, the total neighborhood number and total neighborhood nomatic number.

Frames are the generalizations of orthonormal basis in Hilbert spaces. As for an or-thonormal basis, a frame allows each element x ∈ L²(R) to be written as x = ∑c_nx_n, for suitable coefficients {c_n}; however, in contrast to the situation for a basis, the coefficients might not be unique. Presented the basic facts from the frame theory and the corresponding results for Gabor frames, wavelet frames and wave packet systems are discussed. Most of the paper is a survey of literature, notably the work given in [7, 8, 19, 23]. As an application of tight wavelet frames, known as framelets, author have used it for deblurring of images.

There are several types of magic labeling defined on graphs. In this paper authors consider vertex magic labeling and group magic labeling of graphs as an application of magic labeling. Considered dynamical systems in which a (typically vector-valued) dependent variable evolves according to autonomous dynamics switching randomly according to Markovian laws that change with the value of the dependent variable. Such systems are known as "random evolutions" or. in electrical engineering contexts, as "switching systems". Systems of this type are encountered in applications from electrical engineering to cell biology (our paper was inspired by a recent model for genetic oscillators). Reviewed the derivation of the forward Kol-mogorov master equations for the probabilities to find the system in a certain state at some time. In the limit of an infinite switching rate solutions of our system converge almost surely to solutions of an averaged problem. The classical tool of a Chapman-Enskog expansion, well-known from kinetic theory, provides diffusion approximations to first order in the scale parameter. The work focusses on a few typical examples. The analysis is formal, but expect that the results hold rigorously in analogy to earlier results from kinetic theory.

Using this authors develop an outgoing Cuntz scattering system which gives rise to an input-output formalism. A transfer function is introduced for the system. They also compare the transfer function and the characteristic function for the associated lifting.

Statistical assessment of curve fitting to soil water retention curve has been carried out for two different types of soils viz., Kharagpur sandy loam soil (four layers) and Black clay soil of Akola. The closed form equation describing soil water retention function of van Genuchten [VG (m, n) and VG (n)] and Brooks-Corey (BC) was fitted using RETC software and detailed statistical analysis was carried out to compare their performance. Results revealed that all the three models were found to perform reasonably well. The statistical analysis performed to discriminate the models such as R², AIC, t-value and RSS had showed a little difference among the models used for comparison. However, considering the relative ease at which the computation of hydraulic properties can be performed and the practical situation that can be accommodated, VG(n) is the best model among all the three models. This represents a simple closed form equation that can be derived to express the hydraulic conductivity function as compared to VG (m, n).

In this paper many bounds on γ_t(η(G)) are obtained and its exact values for some standard graphs are found in terms of parameters of G. Also its relationship with other domination parameters is investigated.
