This paper aims to find out the status and causes of food insecurity and policy measures taken by the government to reduce insecurity in Odisha. The data used in this paper have been collected from different secondary sources like books, journals, news papers, government reports etc. The study shows that the main cause of food insecurity in Odisha is absence of purchasing power of people to purchase adequate amounts of foods to meet basic minimum food requirements. Purchasing power is absent because of poverty. 9% of the population are extremely food insecure consuming less than 1800 kcl per day. The vulnerability is high in southern and northern regions of the state as well as among SC and ST communities and is more experienced in rural areas than urban areas. Government of Odisha intervene the situation to counter insecurity through different measures like subsidized distribution of food grains, nutrition provisioning through Anganwadis and mid-day meals, food for work programmes etc. Because of implementation of these measures calories intake of people of KBK regions has increased from 1674.6 kcl in 2004-05 to 1819.0 kcl in 2011-12 and that of non-KBK regions has increased from 2046.5 kcl in 2004-05 to 2076 kcl in 2011-12. Finally, the paper suggests that the government should focus on development of agriculture and employment generation and price stability.

According to the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Global Financial Stability Report, 36.9 per cent of India's total debt is at risk, which is among the highest in the emerging economies while India's banks have only 7.9 per cent loss absorbing buffer, which is among the lowest. Bad loans of the banking system have risen alarmingly in the fiscal year 2015. The gross Non-Performing Assets (NPAs), for Public Sector Banks (PSBs), as on March 2015, stood at 5.17 per cent while the stressed assets ratio stood at 13.2 per cent, nearly 230 basis points more than that for the banking system. PSBs have been reeling under pressure, due to the rising number of defaults, affecting their bottom line. As a result, there is a substantial increase in the need for a Corporate Debt Restructuring (CDR) mechanism, to streamline their loans. The sharp increase in stressed assets has adversely affected the profitability of the banks. The annual return on assets has come down from 1.09 per cent, during 2010-11, to 0.78 per cent, during 2014-15. Considering the effect it has on both capital and liquidity position of the bank, there is an urgent need for banks to reduce their stressed assets and clean up their balance sheets. To test the hypotheses, multivariate regression was employed. Findings indicated a negative relationship between stressed assets and profitability.

Measuring TQM in Tourism Industry is justified by the significance of the tourism segment and the competition among different tourism destinations. TQM is the vehicle, utilized by increasing number of companies, to bring about changes in quality management, which is recognized as the foundation of business competitiveness and it is pro actively integrated with all business practices. The quality of services has to improve in order to increase competitiveness and customer loyalty. Tour operator is the key player, influencing quality because the principal service provider is responsible for delivering the promised service mix, including all arrangement such as flights, transportation, accommodation, excursion and guidance, throughout the service delivery period. Adoption of TQM is not a quick fix approach to improving quality and productivity. It requires a transition from outcome oriented systems to a continuous improvement approach to problem identification and resolution of organization processes. Since there are limited resources, it is important for the study, to identify the order of importance amongst the TQM factors and also their interrelation. This survey (questionnaire) - based study is an attempt, to identify the important factors of Total Quality in Tourism industry, the relative importance of these factors from service providers' point of view and evaluation of these factors for statistical significance. In addition, the study will also provide an in depth understanding of TQM factors that will help the tourism industry, to improve their services.

India has witnessed sea change in the Housing Finance Industry since the last decade. Housing is important not only for human settlement but also as a foundation for the development of human race. Particularly after the norms being relaxed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), individual housing loans disbursement by the Banks, are expected to soar high in coming years, giving a boost to this sector. These loan providers, having their own niches, are providing attractive loan schemes and services. However, certain problems are also witnessed by customers like visiting the Housing Finance Companies (HFCs) every month for EMI payment, delays in repayment due to non-reaching of timely PDCs to the HFCs, leading to customer dissatisfaction. Therefore, an assessment of customers' satisfaction of these two housing finance providers, will clearly reflect the expectations of customers from the loan providers. After collecting the data and doing the analysis, it was concluded that both LICHFL and SBI have varied clientele and people preferred both the institutions but LICHFL was slightly more preferred than SBI Bank for home loans.

This paper identifies and illustrates some of the common barriers for tourism skills development and community capacity building that end up having devastating consequences on the local residents of Umlazi Township. The study is based and builds on the work of other researchers who have found that in the townships of South Africa, the inability of local governments or municipalities to empower local residents and capacitate them through skills development has become a common barrier to tourism development which can play a pivotal role in changing the socio-economic status of the unemployed residents. Findings of the study solicited through open-ended questions from unstructured interviews have revealed the absence and the nonexistence of programmes that are put in place by the municipalities to emancipate local residents of uMlazi through skills development. Tourism fails to provide job opportunities in the township as a result very few if there are any of local residents that take it as seriously as the government which claims and construes it as the chicken that lays the golden egg and the industry that has the capacityto address unemployment in South Africa. Findings of the study also show that barriers to skills development and community capacity building do not vary from section to section. It is therefore expected that findings of the study could assist the government officials at all levels in knowing that their "arms' length attitude" and inability to implement reconstruction and developmental policies perpetuates unemployment and misery in townships. So reassessing tourism programs and implementing them could help spearheading tourism development in the township.

Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory drugs are widely used drugs worldwide for various inflammatory conditions and acute as well as chronic pain conditions. In India large number of NSAIDs preparations are available in the market. Therefore choosing a NSAID becomes very difficult task for the prescribing physician. Objective is to evaluate the price variation of the different NSAIDs preparation available in the Indian market. Cost of a particular drug in the same strength and dosage forms being manufactured by different companies was obtained from "Current Index of Medical Specialties" (CIMS) Jan-Apr, 2015 and "Indian Drug Review" (IDR) Issue 1,2015. Difference between the maximum and minimum cost of the same drug manufactured by different pharmaceutical companies was calculated and percentage cost variation was calculated. Spearman correlation analysis and regression coefficient was done to observe the correlation between no. of manufacturing companies and their percentage price variation with the help of IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS v.21). NSAIDs combination were commonly found as Oral and Topical combination formulations. Out of 33 different Oral Combination with 70 various formulations, maximum % variation in cost were 3400 [Aceclofenac 100mg+Paracetamol 500mg tab], 300.62 [Dexibuprofen 300mg+Paracetmol 500mg tab] and 400 [Diclofenac Na 50mg+Serrapeptase 10mg tab] with average % variation in cost 107.4%. For Topical Combination Formulations, only 5 formulations of 2 drugs with 86 different pharmaceutical companies were found. From which, Diclofenac topical combination formulation show highest % variation in cost [192.59] with average % variation in cost being 55.63. The findings revealed that the prices of various NSAIDs shows great variation. Some measures must be taken by the government to bring about the uniformity in the price.

Indian J soc Res 2016, 57(3), 341-8.
Micro level study was earned out in Thiruvcmnamalai district of Tamil Nadu to assess the loan repayment performance of farmers. Data pertaining to the objectives of the study were collected from sixty sample respondents using pretested interview schedule. The linear discriminant function analysis was the tool employed to identify the variables that are important in discriminating between non-defaulters and defaulters. Independent variables like sex, membership in self help group or not, membership in co-operative or not (marketing through co-operative or not), land holding size, livestock holding size, dependency ratio, livestock income, educational level of the respondents, total income, age, family size and community were used for the analysis. The results revealed that factors like sex of the borrower, livestock holding size and membership in co-operatives determine significantly the discriminating the characteristics between defaulters and non-defaulters. The mean value of the discriminant score for non-defaulter and defaulter was found to be 20.0238 and -0.353 and if the discriminant score of the estimated discriminant function for a borrower is found be more than 20.0238, he is likely to be a non-defaulter or he can be designated as prompt payer; otherwise he is likely to be a defaulter. Thus, the discriminant function can be used to predict whether any borrower is likely to be a defaulter or non-defaulter on the basis of the information of the above three factors.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in India play a very important role in enhancing the potential and opportunities of entrepreneurs in India. But funding creates various hurdles in its path for the growth. Banks are reluctant to provide loans to them because of the various reasons like information asymmetry, moral hazard or adverse selection effects which create various challenges in front of SMEs to generate funds. To overcome this problem, government of India, with the help of SEBI, launched two platforms, BSE SME platform and NSE EMERGE platform for the listing of SMEs. But after more than three and a half years of their launch, there is a need to compare their various characteristics. In this study, the various characteristics are compared between both the SME platforms. The SMEs and ITP companies of both the boards are compared which would help to find out where and by which characteristic a board is lagging behind. The various characteristics include the share prices, market capitalization, market turnover, PE ratios and proportion of companies reporting losses. In this study, we will study about both the SME platforms with their listing requirements, benefits of listing various challenges existing for the entry in exchange and also to provide some suggestions to overcome those challenges. The data structure for the study is based on the official publication of annual reports, and other reports like daily trading reports, ITP bhavcopy, financial reports of the companies listed on the exchanges and the share prices of the listed companies from the official websites of both the platforms. For the data collection the census method has been adopted where all the SMEs and ITPs are considered. Simple tabular approach has been used for the analysis of the data. The findings indicate that BSE SME exchange has well diversified companies on the basis of market cap and most of the companies listed on it are healthier in general. Whereas, most of the companies on the EMERGE platform are reporting losses. But even after that its market turnover has improved in the recent year than that of its rival exchange. Moreover, the BSE SME companies have lower share prices in general. This research has focused on the Indian SME Exchange platforms and analyzed the various dimension on these platforms both quantitatively and qualitatively and on different levels. It will create awareness among the entrepreneurs, SMEs and investors and will help them to choose the best platform according to their needs.

Sometimes, the information obtained is faster than the information obtained through news channels and newspapers. However, the amount of information stored inside the database can create a situation of quandary and often it becomes a mammoth task for users simply reading the tweets to extract the exact sentiment behind the tweet. If it was possible to classify the exact sentiment behind the tweet, various decisions regarding prediction and classification can be taken based on the analysis. Multiple-criteria decision making (MCDM) is a division of operations research that explicitly evaluates multiple criteria in decision making environment. In our day to day life there are typically multiple criteria that need to be solved in making decisions. Cost always stands first inthe criteriafor making decisions. Quality is the criterion that conflicts with the cost. Cost and customer satisfaction are the other two conflicting criteria. In management we are interested in getting high returns at the same time reducing our risk. The stocks that have potential of bringing high returns typically also carry a high risks of investment. Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) was one of the first systematic techniques for failure analysis. It was developed by an engineers in the late 1950s to study problems that may arise from miss using of military systems. FMEA is a first step of effectiveness study of a system. It involves in reviewing as many components and subsystem as possible for identifying the failure modes and their causes and effects. FMEA deals with the qualitative aspects of a system. Quality function deployment (QFD) is a tool to transform user demands from qualitativeinto quantitative parameters. QFD is designed to back up the planning process and to focus on features of a new product, market segments, and company or technology development needs.
