The information asymmetry between insiders and outsiders is a fundamental concern of every securities market. Insiders may buy (sell) securities when they are aware of good (bad) news. Hence, insider purchases (sales) could be considered as positive (negative) signals by the market. In consistent with this argument, this study examines whether insider trades are informative and the adjustments of security prices for insider trades are quick in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), This study analyzes a sample of directors' purchases and sales events reported to the CSE during September, 2004 to August, 2012 using the standard event study methodology. The findings are not consistent with the hypotheses except the significant positive abnormal returns subsequent to the insider purchases under the Risk Adjusted Return model. In fact, the positive abnormal returns observed subsequent to insider sales are contradictory to the hypothesis that insider sales should be associated with negative abnormal returns. Furthermore, it is observed that the speed of adjustment of security prices for insider trades are not consistent which cast doubt on the efficiency of the CSE.

Asian J Mgmt Res 2015, 5(4), 596-605.
Today's world is along with numerous changes. Every day, significant changes have been made in all scientific fields. These advances are transmitted to the educational system through textbooks and teachers training, in various forms, such as modifying new methods of teaching and testing, and it is crucial to investigate the rate of success in improving students' learning. In the present study, it is tried to evaluate the quality of changes made in new math books at third grade of elementary school as well as the role of these changes in improving students' learning. The studied sample includes 246 teachers of third grade in Tehran, District 15, who were chosen based on cluster random sampling. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect data. SPSS software was employed to analyze the research data. The results of the study showed that, in teachers' point of view, changes in contents of the textbook have significantly led to learning improvement and increasing parents' satisfaction. The changes made in these books significantly have a positive role in making the text consistent, and customizing the patterns topic for age characteristics of students. However, these changes were not successful in customizing the statistics and probability topic for age characteristics of students, and conforming the outline and content of the textbook to the desired objectives. Analyzing the teachers' ideas in this study showed that most of them were not satisfied with high volume of textbook, lack of time and therefor high work pressure. It seems that the obtained results, especially the mismatch between some parts of topics and content of the book on one hand, and on the other hand, the lack of enough conformity in the outline of the book to age characteristics of students might accompany with some challenges to the quality of student's learning and development of educational system.

Employability upon graduation is a major priority for most of the Engineering Students. Education is considered to be a process of skill formation and in this aspect it is treated at par with the process of capital formation. Economists often argue that as the demand for educational training increases, the system needs to meet with the country's requirement for people with high levels of skill and knowledge. Higher Educational institutions and the world of work cooperate in many ways such as knowledge and technology transfer, consultancy services, research collaboration and employer inputs into academic courses. Students are more diverse but Are the higher education institutions and graduate career opportunities going hand in hand. In this the response may be that the institutions are developing a variety of ways for enhancing student employability. The talent required by the IT industry is different from what a manufacturing industry wants or what a service industry requires, and often this is the major stumbling block. We have been unable to derive full economic benefit from this talent base because of the mismatch between industry needs and university output. The purpose of this study was to know the skill sets required by young graduates to enter the IT industry for their sustainability and to assess how there can be a value creation for better chances of survival in the tough global job market. The case study of College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) is also discussed as a sample case for Employability

Prabandhan: Indian J Mgmt 2015, 8(3), 23-32.
Human values held by an individual in the context of work that are (a) concerned with fellow human beings and (b) those concerned with perpetuity of organizations have to be studied for their impact on job performance and employee competency. Schwartz's 10 basic values - self-direction, stimulation, hedonism, achievement, power, security, conformity, tradition, benevolence, and universalism- which are very general and relate primarily to a larger societal context, are not employee- or organization-focused. The last five values, namely, security, conformity, tradition, benevolence, and universalism - have little focus on human beings and are less encountered during work. The human values which are particular to the context of work (social focus values) are assumed to impact job performance and competency of employees. In view of scanty research into this aspect of employees and work in this part of the world, a research was undertaken with 144 employee respondents working in different organizations in and around Hyderabad. Path analysis was performed to unearth and measure the relationships between values and employee outcomes and the mediating role of competency. The model was also tested with AMOS software. The research shows that social focus values and organization perpetuity pursuit values impact performance only with the complete mediating role of competency. Contrary to popular view, these two values under examination have little direct effect on job performance, and competency alone predicts performance, and not social focus and perpetuity pursuit values.

Cloud computing being recognized as a huge transformation in the IT management has raised many questions among the IT experts towards its adoption in SME's (Small and Medium Enterprises). Past researches having demonstrated the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats (SWOT) reinforced them with the technology acceptance, however they lack in suggesting the strong adoption decisions for SME's. Minimizing the economic downturn being one of the major objectives of this service adoption, it is prudent to consider the voice of cloud consumers and experts to investigate and suggest SME's with possible multi-criteria decisions based on BOCR (Benefit, Opportunity, Cost and Risk) analysis. A structural model using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was developed by assigning the weights and prioritizing each component with respect to the BOCR criteria. The findings suggested that cloud services are still in emerging stage and SME's are interested due to the excellent benefits and opportunities provided in align with the firm's growth. Despite major data security attacks and privacy issue stories from the past, if the cloud service providers can still work on ensuring and minimize such issues, cloud services will have a promising business growth in the future. This study helps organizations to strategically focus on these criteria to reach to a higher level of competitiveness and also assists decision makers to strategically leverage their efforts by effective implementation of cloud computing. Finally, the study concludes with several interesting pointers as directions for further researchers

Possibility for predicting crimes using time series model and ARCGIS Software are investigated in the current work. Analysis and study of mutual relationship between skeletal environment of cities and social disorders and crimes is the subject which has been entered in geographical studies in recent decades and has become very important. Geographical information system was used in this work to predict crimes. To this end, the crimes related to theft from March 2011 to February 2011 as well as two years ago and one year later crimes were recorded and investigated in ARCGIS Software so that a solution can be found in providing time patterns by technical analysis. Thus, urban area was studied as statistical population. Then, using database of these crimes and statistical and graphical tests in ARC GIS environment, the crimes were predicted. Analytical - descriptive method was used as research method and it was an applied research study. Data and information were collected using library and field methods. Results show applying theft location to a conventional point in each district may be useful for providing an analytical model and then predicting and presenting solutions for police centers. Crime analysis maps are important tools in crime analysis and they can be necessary prerequisites for crime prediction.

In today's world, the basic human wants are already satisfied. Though there are a few ways to attract potential customers to a certain product. One of them is the satisfaction of secondary aesthetic needs. In this regard the aesthetic preference is an important criterion in the consumer purchase decision. When corporate identity is developed properly, the company is guaranteed to attract its regular customers, and therefore, occupies a certain market niche. Thus, it is very important for the company to develop its corporate identity and maintain it, inspiring potential customers to buy, and holding them about the company. Consumer awareness about a particular brand, as well as their emotional and intellectual associations are achieved through corporate identity, or corporate style. Style is the hallmark of goods and services helping the consumer to classify a certain product to a specific category. It also allows consumer to classify the product within a product line and brings the elements of the marketing mix to the needs of the target market. The article proves that the basis of the commercial chain "form-product-company" is repeatability. It is through the repeatability that the form becomes an attribute of corporate identity. Therefore, this aesthetic element should always be used and improved through the corporate communications system. As practice shows, sometimes even small functional form of a certain object can be invaluable in terms of aesthetics, becoming part of the brand image.

This study aims to determine the key trends in, as well as focus areas in and ways of, ensuring the proper level of global food security - both at the global level and in specific countries of the Asia-Pacific region. What needs to be used as the basis for the food security of particular countries is the sustainable development of their national agro-industrial complexes, while taking account of the experience of and statistical data for other, more developed, countries andregions in Western Europe and the US. Among the major inferences drawn from this study, the author would like to highlight the following: (a) the state of food security varies significantly by countries and regions. For particular countries within the Asia-Pacific region (above all, India, China, and Russia), ensuring the proper level of food security is a most topical objective to be resolved using a systemic approach; (b) resolving the objective of ensuring food security in Asian regions ought to be based on the innovation-oriented sustainable development of the national agro-industrial complex using special organizational/economic mechanisms, which should be predicated on a novel understanding of the specificity of the interaction between the state, agro-industrial business, and science; (c) resolving the objective of ensuring the proper level of food security serves the achievement of common humanistic goals in the development of modern human civilization and is viewed as one of the key obligations of modern socially-oriented states.

The relation between an organization, economic, social and cultural contexts leads to ask the question whether those organizations, can transfer their domestic Management Control Systems (henceforth MCSs) overseas or they need to redesign them according to cultural imperatives of other nation (Graeme et al., 1999). The rise of internationalization versus localization emphasizes the significance of this question. The study of differences in MCSs has been discussed in the literature according to different approaches, namely: the cultural approach, societal effects, new institutionalism and historical approach (Bhimani, 1999). One of management diversity causes which was highlighted by the most of the approaches is the culture. The relation between an organization and economic, social and cultural contexts leads to ask the question whether those organizations, can transfer their domestic managerial practices overseas or they need to redesign them according to cultural imperatives of other nation (Tallaki and Bracci, 2014; Graeme et al., 1999). This paper aims to sketch an embryonic conceptual framework to understand first the relationship between national culture and MCSs and secondly why standard managerial practices are widespread despite the relationship between national culture and MCSs.

People make for the real bottom line in business. In an organizational context, empowerment is a process of assigning decision-making authority to executives and employees. The present study has attempted to understand the issues of culture of empowerment from the perspectives of individual attitudes, aspirations and perception of empowerment of employees in a public sector insurance corporation through an intensive micro-level field study. The methodology of the study was based on the primary data collected through structured questionnaire. The findings point to an overall poor level of empowerment of employees. The item-wise analysis of empowerment data has revealed a conflicting picture- a gap between belief and practice in the organization in respect of empowerment processes and practices, thus pointing to a 'revealing' organizational reality. The cadre-wise item-analysis has shown that the managerial personnel have only perceived moderate level of empowerment status. Empowerment, thus, is negligible and it is still in the primitive stage in the organization.

e-Governance can be defined as "a government structure which is efficient and effective and is duly controlled by citizens" (Bedi et al, 2001). Perri 6 (2004) states e-governance tools can "be used to sustain the important elements of accountability and tension that a liberal democratic order requires". Within the same context, e-governance aims to promote policy making, however e-government requires the use of e-democracy.On the other hand, e-government means "exploiting the power of information and communications technology to help transform the accessibility, quality and cost-effectiveness of public services" E-government also relates to the relationship between citizens and those in power. To increase accountability and empowerment, the use of e-government is vital, in order to achieve citizen participation. The topic of e-government and e-governance has become increasingly acknowledged over the last few years, and many governments desire for online services. However developing countries are disadvantaged due to lack of capital and knowledge of the internet and Information Technology. Developing countries are more likely to have corrupting governments, thus restricting the level of ICTs within the country. However with organisations from developed countries, implementation of programmes produces effective results; the degree of corruption is reduced and democracy heightens. It is also important to mention, even developed countries are confronted by issues such as how to structure their e-government. Researcher has reviewed some previous literature related to the eGovernance insome developing and developed countries and India. eGovernance is playing very vital role in social and economic development of various segments of the society. Their role to uplift the various area is multi-dimensional, so it was a challenging subject for the research study. The covered studies discover facts, knowledge, trend, practices and other elements in society, government and related aspects of egovernance. for Local Self Government.

Rural women are endowed with invaluable talent of weaving masterpieces on textiles. They effortlessly infuse their creativity into weaving colorful pieces for near and dear ones. In spite of this abundant creativity, entrepreneurship among rural women seems to be very limited. Except for a few, majority of the village women take home-weaving as a way of life and never wish to take up this latent talent as a full time occupation for making economic gains. Different researchers from time to time have made multitudinous studies on problems faced by rural women during entrepreneurial activity. Realizing the criticality of the issue related to weaving ability and entrepreneurship, this study aims to discuss the implicit issues related to women entrepreneurship among women weavers in village settings of Assam. The paper utilizes empirical as well as interpretive investigation at Balisiha Kachari, Bahbari Bagicha and Ghatua Chuburi villages in Sonitpur district of Assam. Secondary background information related to the problems faced by women entrepreneurs is conducted through literature survey. Beside the information availed through different research work on de-motivating factors for entrepreneurial ventures among women, an attempt is also being made to identify artistic skills among women as one of the factor to understand their level of confidence in their creative ability and thus their inclination to create a living out of it. Findings of this study reveal that confidence on designing and weaving skills and desire to start a weaving venture is related.

Study was carried out in Allahabad district, India from November, 2011 to March, 2012 to examine the existing four marketing supply chains (SC1: Producer - Consumer; SC2: Producer - Retailer - Consumer; SC3: Producer - Commission agent - Retailer - Consumer and SC4: Producer - Commission agent -Wholesaler - Retailer - Consumer) for brinjal. The marketing supply chains had significant effect on net marketing price of producer, net profit of producer, total marketing cost, total marketing loss, total net marketing margin, marketing efficiency, producer share in consumer price and consumer purchase price for brinjal. The net price of producer, net profit of producer, marketing efficiency and producer share in consumer price were significantly higher in marketing supply chain SC1, followed by SC2, SC3 and SC4. The total marketing cost, total marketing loss, total net marketing margin and consumer purchase price for brinjal were significantly lower in marketing supply chain SC1, followed by SC2, SC3 and SC4. The standardized beta coefficient indicate that commission charges for marketing of brinjal was most dominant factor which influenced the marketing cost. The results revealed that net profit of producer, marketing efficiency and producer share in consumer price decreased significantly as well as marketing cost, marketing loss, marketing margin and consumer purchase price increased significantly with the increase of number of intermediaries in marketing supply chain. The most challenging issues in existing marketing supply chains for fresh vegetables in Allahabad district are high marketing cost, high marketing loss, low net profit of producer and low marketing efficiency caused due to high number of intermediaries, poor logistics, lack of coordination between chain partners and poor linkage of producer to potential market. In order to improve socio - economic condition of small and marginal farmers / producers and provide competitive price to consumer in Allahabad district, it is feasible to introduce cooperative marketing supply chain as well as to improve transportation, storage and marketing facilities and provide accurate marketing information, technical knowledge and financial support to producers and intermediaries.

The purpose of this study is investigating the effects of corporate governance practices on the choice of corporate social responsibility (CSR) engagement and the firm performance applying the CSR. We use in this research a sample of SBF 120 firms during the subprime crisis 2006-2010. In the first step, we find that CSR implication is positively associated with corporate governance practices, as functioning of board of directors, audit process and remuneration policy, after controlling for various firm characteristics. We observe also the insignificance of ownership structure and shareholders' rights and information to explain the engagement of firms to CSR activities. In the second step, our results of the study conclude that corporate social performance (CSR) has no effect on financial performance during the subprime crisis, while the audit process plays an important role in enhancing firm performance. However, if our findings show that return on equity, or return on asset, or shareholders' rights and information are negatively associated with firm performance, these findings also prove that board functioning, remuneration policy and ownership structure would be without any effect on the firm performance.

Price volatility in the concept of this paper is defined as the variation of prices over time. The limitation of study relative to vegetable price volatility made the analysis contribute to the existing field of work. The analysis focused on the price trend and extent of price volatility of cabbage, carrot, and potato for the period of 2002 to 2011. It likewise sought to determine the difference in price volatility between types of prices such as farm, local retail and Metro Manila retail, and the relationship of weather conditions i.e., rainfall amount and temperature, production area, and importation volume to the vegetable prices. The research employed secondary data from various sources. The results showed erratic trends of prices of the selected high value vegetables for the whole period covered. The farm and retail prices exhibited similar pattern indicating that any price changes at the farm level were carried at the retail level. The study illustrated volatile prices for the selected vegetables. This result proved the assumption that there is high degree of price volatility among the selected vegetables. The farm price was the most volatile in relation to retail price. However among the selected vegetables, cabbage prices indicated the highest volatility. Its perishability and susceptibility to weather conditions are the potential contributing factors. The volatility of the different types of prices was statistically significant at 0.001. Further, the farm and retail prices were significantly affected by several factors such as the weather conditions specifically rainfall amount and temperature, the production area, and volume of imports.

Fostering entrepreneurship among students has become an important topic for universities, government agencies and research academicians as well. A sample of 164 respondents (85 management and 79 non-management students) from various colleges in India were taken and data was collected using Likert scale, indicating their level of agreement or disagreement with a series of statements relating to seven entrepreneurial traits or attitudes namely -Passion, Faith and Commitment, Risk Tolerance, Adaptability, Leadership, Drive Determination and Energy. The results of the empirical study showed that gender was a significant factor in assessment of Entrepreneurial Psychological Capital. Presence or influence of family members' who already had a running business showed statistically significant influence in moulding students' inclination towards entrepreneurship. Monthly income and household asset position had no significant relationship in determining attitudes and characteristics towards entrepreneurship, especially the trait of tolerance towards risk. Of the seven entrepreneurial attitudes/traits/characteristics measured, management students scored high on all domains and the domain of Drive and Determination emerged as the most significant factor with a regression coefficient of 0.213, followed by Passion with a regression coefficient of 0.203. The study emphasize the importance of having entrepreneurial development programs, as part of curriculum, not only for management students, but also for arts and science students.
