Modified Pade approximation is proposed to improve the stability of precise time-step integration (PTI) algorithm for solving structural dynamic equations. The precise time-step integration (PTI) algorithm with the modified Fade approximation would be unconditionally stable and solve the second-order differential equation directly. With Rayleigh damping and symmetric property, the efficiency of the precise time-step integration (PTI) algorithm with the modified Fade approximation could be improved significantly. Three numerical examples are also presented to investigate the stability and the applicability of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper one-dimensional steady-state temperature distribution is investigated in human dermal region. The region is divided into five layers, namely; stratum corneum, stratum germinativum, papillary layer, reticular layer and subcutaneous tissue. The outer surface of the skin is assumed to be exposed to the environment, having temperature above 30°C, resulting sweat generation and its evaporation. The rate of blood mass flow, rate of metabolic heat generation and the thermal conductivity are assumed to be constants in stratum corneum, stratum germinativum and in subcutaneous tissue while variables in papillary layer and in reticular layer. Arterial blood temperature is taken variable. Variational finite element method has been used to find the interface temperatures. Results are discussed numerically.

The method is proved to be convergent and is of order Δt. Proved that the method is stable in L₂ norm and numerical solutions are bounded. The mean control charts are very sensitive to outliers and the median control charts are outlier - resistant. A novel cusum median control chart was proposed by Ling Yang, et al. [6]. The Standardized cusum charts are useful in detecting even small shift in process mean. Varadharajan and Pandurangan [12] have proposed standardized cusum control charts for Variable Sample Sizes and Markov Dependent Sample Sizes. In this paper, a standardized CUSUM median control chart is proposed for the Fixed and VSS. The proposed method is compared with the conventional Shewhart control charts. The standardized CUSUM median control chart is shown to be better than the usual standardized cusum chart. Numerical examples are also given.

Demand considered in most of the classical inventory models is constant, while in most of the practical cases the demand changes with time. In this study a model has been framed to study the items whose demand changes, deterioration rate increases with time and shortages are allowed. The present model is related to products having linear in demand and variable rate of deterioration with shortages. As the rate of deterioration increases, the optimal time of the inventory decreases and the required number of items for, the fixed length of each ordering or production cycle, the minimum total operational cost of the inventory and the required items for the fulfillment of backorder increases. The application is illustrated with a suitable example.

Application of Magneto dynamics in physiological fluid flow problem is of growing interest. The flow of blood can be controlled by applying magnetic field. Mathematical modeling for poiseuille flow of blood (-a power-law fluid) with an axial velocity slip along an artery wall in presence of transverse of magnetic field, is considered. It is observed that when Hartmann number increases the fluid velocity is greatly affected. The present model includes the poiseuille flow models of slip and no slip at artery wall and one-layered Power-law fluid model with zero-slip, as its special cases. Applications of this theoretical modelling to cardiovascular diseases and the role of slip in the better functioning of the diseased or occluded arteries are included in brief.

In the study of HIV infection an important aspect of interest is the estimation of the expected time to seroconversion from the time point of infection. Successive contacts after the initial infection contribute to the antigenic diversity of HIV and there by reaching the seroconversion in a shorter period. Every contact gives rise to some damage to the immune system. The homing process related to HIV indicates that there is a depletion of White Blood Corpuscles (WBC) due to HIV acquired during every time of contact. This suggests that the immune ability of an individual decreases because of successive contacts and as and when the cumulative damage of WBC crosses a particular level, the immune system breaks down. This level of the immune ability, which sustains the immune system, may be treated as the threshold level. The immune system fails if the cumulative damage crosses a threshold level which itself is taken to be a mixed exponential random variable and also the inter arrival times between successive contacts is taken to be mixed exponential random variable. Using shock model and cumulative damage process the expected time to seroconversion and its variance are obtained in this paper.

Deals with 'Graph Model Generation for Grayscale Images'. A grayscale image is simply one in which the only colors are shades of gray. The reason for differentiating such images from any other sort of color image is that less information needs to be provided for each pixel. In fact a 'gray' color is one in which the red, green and blue components, have equal intensity in RGB space. It is needed to specify a single intensity value for each pixel instead of three intensities needed to specify each pixel in a image. In this model the nodes are denoted by grayscale images. The edges of the graph store information about the relationship between the grayscale images. To find the connectivity between the grayscale images, we use graph model generation for grayscale images. The purpose for using a graph model is that it is a simple and effective method for storing connectivity information and grouping them in to distinct scenes.

Many natural and engineered complex networks have intricate mesoscopic organization, e.g., the clustering of the constituent nodes into several communities or modules. Often, such modularity is manifested at several different hierarchical levels, where the clusters defined at one level appear as elementary entities at the next higher level. Using a simple model of a hierarchical modular network, also show that such a topological structure gives rise to characteristic time-scale separation between dynamics occurring at different levels of the hierarchy. This generalizes our earlier result for simple modular networks, where fast intramodular and slow intermodular processes were clearly distinguished. Investigating the process of synchronization of oscillators in a hierarchical modular network, show the existence of as many distinct time-scales as there are hierarchical levels in the system. This suggests a possible functional role of such mesoscopic organization principle in natural systems, viz., in the dynamical separation of events occurring at different spatial scales.

Layer of Rivlin-Ericksen viscoelastic fluid heated from below in a porous medium is considered in the presence of uniform vertical rotation. Following the linearized stability theory and normal mode analysis, the paper mathematically established the condition for characterizing the oscillatory motions which may be neutral or unstable, for rigid boundaries at the top and bottom of the fluid. It is established that all non-decaying slow motions starting from rest, in a Rivlin-Ericksen viscoelastic fluid of infinite horizontal extension and finite vertical depth, which is acted upon by uniform vertical rotation in a porous medium, opposite to gravity and a constant vertical adverse temperature gradient, are necessarily non-oscillatory, in the regime T_A≤1/P²where T_A is the Taylor number; and P₁ is the medium permeability. The result is important since it hold for all wave numbers and for rigid boundaries of infinite horizontal extension at the top and bottom of the fluid, and the exact solutions of the problem investigated in closed form, is not obtainable.
