In inventory control there are many models based on the concepts of reliability theory. The concept of stations in series has been used to find the optimal quantity of semi finished products between two machines in series. This problem can be extended to the case of three machines in series and in such a case the reserve 51 is the quantity of semi finished product generated by M₁ and 52 stands for the quantity of semi finished product by M₂. In this paper the optimal size of the reserves 51 and 52 are obtained under the assumption that the break down duration of the first machine M₁ is a random variable distributed as first order statistic.

Blood flow through a uniform rigid artery with an axial velocity slip condition at vessel wall has been considered by assuming blood a Casson fluid. An analysis has been made to describe the behaviour of Casson fluid model for blood flow with velocity slip in the presence of magnetic effect. It has been observed that the effect of the Hartmann number and the Reynolds number on the velocity field as well as on the wall shear stress is very prominent and when the Hartmann number and Reynolds number increases, the fluid velocity decreases. It also include Poiseuille fluid models of blood for both slip and no-slip at wall and one-layered Casson fluid model and no slip at tube wall as its special cases. Role of slip in influencing the flow variables and physiological implications of this theoretical modeling are discussed in brief.

To partition these fuzzy data of decision-makers' assessment on an observation or experiment, a proper clustering method is essential and proposed in this paper. In the proposed clustering method, the raw data are presented by fuzzy data and a fuzzy semi-equivalence relation is first constructed to present the binary relation between two fuzzy data. Then, a fuzzy equivalen,ce relation is established by max-min transitive closure from the fuzzy semi-equivalence relation. Based on the fuzzy equivalence relation, the fuzzy data are classified into clusters. The clusters representing the selection preferences of different decision-makers on the data set will be the foundation of developing Decision-maker Relationship Management (DRM).

Genetic Algorithm (GA) and its many versions have been popular in the academy and the industry mainly because of their intuitiveness, ease of implementation, and the ability to effectively solve highly nonlinear, mixed integer optimization problems that are typical of complex engineering systems. The drawback of the GA is its expensive computational cost. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is a relatively recent heuristic search method whose mechanics are inspired by the swarming or collaborative behavior of biological populations. PSO is similar to the GA as these two evolutionary heuristies are populations-based search methods. In other words, PSO and the GA move from a set of points (population) to another set of points in a single integration with likely improvement using a combination of deterministic and probabilistic rules. This paper attempts to examine the claim that PSO has the same effectiveness (finding the true global optimal solution) as the GA but with significantly better computational efficiency (less function evaluations) by implementing statistical analysis and formal hypothesis testing. The major objective of this paper is to compare the computational effectiveness and efficiency of the GA and PSO using a formal hypothesis testing approach.

The demand rate is assumed to be constant. The production is started again at a time when the shortage level reaches a prefixed quantity Q₂. Results are illustrated by numerical example.

The Velocity distribution along major axis y = 0 and along the line y=l are studied at t = 10⁴ and 10² and w = 10^-4 for different values of parameter Band C. In all cases velocity found to be maximum along major axis. Velocity found to decrease as we move away from major axis obtaining zero at boundary. Velocity distribution on major axis y = 0 and the line y = 1 are shown graphically for different pressure distributions.

The streaming motion is also assumed to be horizontal. Under necessary MHO linearized equations and applying normal mode analysis the dispersion relation has been derived and solved numerically. It is found that the rotation and the magnetic field have stabilizing influence while finite conductivity and Hall currents have destabilizing influence on the growth rate of unstable mode of system.

Field experiment was conducted on optimization of seed size and spacing at Central Potato Station, Gwalior during 2006-2008. The results revealed that, an inter-row spacing of 40 cm may be adopted as it recorded significantly higher yields both total and seed size and also number of tubers compared with 50 and 60 cm. Planting 20 g tubers at 10 cm, 40 g tubers at 15 cm, 60g at 20cm intra-row spacings also resulted in significantly higher yields and number of tubers . For achieving higher yield and number of tubers with Cv. K. Sindhuri optimum spacings for 20, 40 tubers were 40 cm x 10 cm, 40 cm x 15 cm and 40 cm x 20 cm and for Kufri Jyoti, it is 60 x 10, 60 x 15 cm and 60 x 20 cm, respectively. In general, combination of 40 x 10 cm inter and intra-rowspacing was found to be the best among all treatments for obtaining higher number of tubers and seed yield.

Manpower is a factor needed for production of goods and services using the available natural resources. Manpower planning is an interdisciplinary activity, it requires combined technical skill of statisticians, economists and behavioural scientists together with the practical knowledge of managers and planners. In the case of manpower planning models the usefulness of the models s very much emphasized since proper planning of human resources is essential in any organization. The attrition of manpower on successive epochs leads to the shortage of manpower. Recruitment s not advised on every epoch of attrition but it becomes imperative as and when the cumulative loss of manpower crosses a particular level called the threshold. In deriving the expression for the expected time to recruitment and its variance, the threshold is taken to be a random variable and the attrition of manpower takes place at the decision epochs. It has been assumed that the interarrival times between the decisions epochs are identically independently distributed. In this paper, it is assumed that the random variable denoting the interarrival times between decision epochs are constantly correlated random variables. Using the results due to Gurland (1955), the expected time to recruitment and its variance are derived. Numerical illustrations are also provided.

The double-ended queue involving trains and passangers at a Railway station has been considered under the assumption that there is limited waiting space both for trains and for passangers. The arrival distribution of trains is simulated by means of an arrival timing channel consisting of j phases. The arrivals of passangers are assumed to be Poisson distributed. In the time dependent case obtained an expression for the Laplace transform of the probabilities that there are n units in the queue. The cases of exponential and 2-Erlang arrival distributions for trains have been considered as particular cases. In the steady state, for a 2-Erlang arrival distribution for trains, Author evaluated the probabilities that the waiting space for passangers or trains is full in different particular cases. Their values are also shown by means of graphs.

Using the method of Akaike's Information Criterion (AIC), presented in this paper a critical discussion on the determination of the order of an ergodic Markov Chain with a finite number of states. Applied this method to the sequences of dry and wet days observed at Hisar during South-west monsoon season (June to October) on the basis of 25 years data (1972-96) to detemine the order of the Markov Chain in the light of the effects of sample size. A fourth order Markov Chain model has been well determined as the best choice to depict the rainfall dependence process at Hisar on the basis of minimum loss function. The minimum sample size that yields a stable estimate of the proper order is estimated to be 15 years.

Comparisons of proposed estimators have been made with estimator for unstratified double sampling. An empirical study bas been made to highlight the importance of the results.

This article deals with the monitoring of censored data using Exponentially Weighted Moving (EWMA) control chart for Rayleigh lifetimes under type I censoring. The focus is of the process mean level for which author have considered the specified parameter(s) as well as the unspecified pararneter(s) cases [where Bayes and Maximum Likelihood Estimates have been considered]. For this purpose, Conditional Expected Values (CEVs) are used I structure is worked out for type I censored environment. Average Run Length (ARL) is carried out to evaluate the performance of the said chart for the known parameter, Bayes estimation cases. An example is also included for illustration purposes. It is observed the case of specified parameter(s) CEV EWMA has an ideal ARL performance for all censoring rates in Rayleigh distributed process. For the case of unspecified parameter(s), based CEV EWMA has superior ARL performance as compared to that of MLE based for the low censoring rates, while for higher censoring rates the scenario is reversed.

In this paper, many bounds on γ_nc (G) were obtained in terms of vertices, edges and other different parameters of G but not in terms of elements of J. Further we develop its reletion with other different domination parameters.

We obtain many bonds on γ_mc (G} in terms of vertices, edges and different parameters of G and not the members of m (G). Further we determine its relationship with other domination parameters.
