We give some necessary and/or sufficient conditions for multiwindow Gabor systems to be frames on discrete periodic sets, and characterize two multiwindow Gabor Bessel sequences to be dual frames on discrete periodic sets. For a given multiwindow Gabor frame, we derive all its Gabor duals, among which we obtain an explicit expression of the canonical Gabor dual. In addition, we generalize multiwindow Gabor systems to the case of a different sampling rate for each window, and investigate muitiwindow Gabor frames and dual frames in this case. Also show the properties of the multiwindow Gabor systems are essentially not changed by replacing the exponential kernel with other kernels.

This paper considers the problem of estimating the population mean using information on an auxiliary variable in presence of non-response. Following the work of Hansen & Hurwitz (1946) and Rao (1986) some composite estimators for estimating the population mean of a study variable Y using information on an auxiliary variable X in the presence of non-response have been suggested. The bias and MSE of these estimators have been derived and properties of these estimators are also studied. The optimum values of weights used in composite estimators have been obtained. It has been found theoretically that these estimators performed well as compared to Hansen and Hurwitz (1946) estimator. It has also been found that one of these two composite estimators performed well as compared to the both estimators of Rao (1986). An empirical study is carried out with two real populations to judge the merits of suggested estimators over the Hansen & Hurwitz (1946) estimator and Rao (1986) estimator. The results of the empirical study have supported the theoretical findings. The loss in efficiency due to non-response has also been found minimum for one of two proposed estimators among the estimators of Hansen & Hurwitz (1946) and Rao (1986). These estimates also revealed that with an increase in percentage of non-respondents in the population, there has been increase in loss of efficiency of the estimators. Both theoretical and empirical study results present the soundness and usefulness of the suggested estimators in practice.

High Yielding Variety (HYV) was introduced in 1967 and is being cultivated in almost all areas of Bangladesh. Rajshahi district is situated in the north area of the country and produces a large amount of HYV Boro rice. To know the scenario of rice production, it is very important to know the trend analysis of the rice yields in a densely populated country like Bangladesh, where rice is the main food. Hence, the objective of this research is to fit trend models for the HYV Boro rice yields of Rajshahi District of Bangladesh. We found that there was autocorrelation in the data set and as such the Cochrane and Orcutt procedure was used to fit trend models. It was found that the quadratic trend model was an appropriate model for this data set on the basis of the R^{2. This research would help policy makers of the country to formulate policies relating to agriculture and food production.}

In cumulative and disjunctive constraint-based scheduling, the resource constraint is enforced by several filtering rules. Among these rules, we have (extended) edge-finding and not-first/not-last rules. The not-first/not-last rule detects tasks that cannot run first/last relatively to a set of tasks and prunes their time bounds. In this paper, it is presented a sound O (n^{2 log n) algorithm for the cumulative not-first/not-last rule where n is the number of tasks. This algorithm reaches the same fix point as previous not-first/not-last algorithms, although it may take additional iterations to do so. The worst case complexity of this new algorithm for the maximal adjustment is the same as the previous complete O (n2|H| log n) not-first/not-last algorithm [7] where |H| is the maximum between the number of distinct earliest completion and latest start times of tasks. But, experimental results on benchmarks from the Project Scheduling Problem Library (PSPLib) and the Baptiste and Le Pape data set (BL) suggest that the new not-first/not-last algorithm has a substantially reduced runtime. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that in practice the new algorithm rarely requires more propagations than previous not-first/not-last algorithms.}

The generalized variance |S| chart is the commonly used control chart for monitoring the covariance matrix of a multivariate normally distributed process. The multivariate synthetic |S| control chart developed by Ghute and Shirke (2008) as an improvement over the |S| chart is based on the assumption that underlying process distribution is multivariate normal. In this paper, we examine the effect of non-normality on the performance of the synthetic |S| control chart based on process data from skewed and heavy tailed symmetric non-normal distributions. It is shown that the in-control ARL values of the synthetic |S| control chart are smaller than the normal theory values for both skewed and heavy tailed symmetric non-normal distributions. At the same time, out-of-control ARL values are larger to the corresponding normal theory values for a variety of non-normal distributions.

Different States have been classified into five categories ranging from highly developed to very backward States. The area and population under different stages of development for the year 2008-09(III) have also been obtained. Wide disparities were observed in the level of development among different States. For bringing out uniform regional development, potential targets of developmental indicators were also estimated for backward/very backward States.

Log-logistic distribution is widely-used in the analysis of agricultural, survival, hydrological and economics data. Therefore, its parameters have to be estimated accurately. Generally, traditional estimators such as maximum likelihood, moment and least squares are used to estimate the parameters of log-logistic distribution. However, it is known that these estimators are very sensitive to outliers and thus, they can cause inconsistent results. In this study, we consider M-estimators, one of alternative robust regression methods, to estimate the parameters of the log-logistic distribution for both data with outliers and without outliers. The simulation results show that most of the considered M-estimators for shape parameter out perform traditional estimators in terms of mean squared error for small sample sizes or data with outliers. Moreover, two real life applications are provided to show the feasibility of M-estimators.

Let R[x; δ] be a differential polynomial ring over a prime Goldie ring R in an indeterminate x, where δ is a derivation of R. In this paper, we describe explicitly the group of δ-stable v-R-ideals and using this results, we show that R[x; δ] is a - 31 - generalized Asano prime ring if and only if R is a δ-generalized Asano prime ring.

In this paper, a new six-term 3-D chaotic system with an exponential nonlinearity has been derived. The basic qualitative properties of the new chaotic system have been studied and discussed in detail. The new chaotic system has two equilibria. Qualitative analysis shows that the equilibria are saddle focus nodes and hence they are unstable. The Lyapunov exponents and Lyapunov dimension for the new chaotic system have been derived. MATLAB simulations have been shown to detail the properties of the new chaotic system.

Measuring social inequalities is essential. However, how to carry out these measurements is a subject of debate. This paper suggests a method for measuring social inequalities using a statistical model of non-participation either at work or at school among youth from different demographic groups. Youth non-participation is defined as not attending school and not employed in the workforce, by gender and religion (Muslim or other) in the sub-districts of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat Provinces of southern Thailand. Data were obtained from the 2000 Population Census of Thailand. The multiplicative logistics regression model is used to enable identification of geographic areas, where a relatively high level of social inequality existed. The plotting technique used in this paper makes it easy to identify regions that need urgent action to increase social justice because of high levels of inequality.

Intensification of tropical cyclones GAY (8929) and VAMEI (0126) from tropical storm to typhoon is simulated in terms of vorticity of the storms. A single level shallow water model is used in the simulation with wind and geopotential height at 850 hPa as the model variables. Weak observed winds of the storms are enhanced with an asymmetric wind model before using as the initial data for the model. Northeast monsoon winds during the intensification of the storms are also enhanced based on the observed maximum wind speeds of the storms. Results of the simulations show that northeast monsoon wind accelerates the intensification of the vorticity of GAY and VAMEI.

Forming student groups has long been considered as an effective approach for collaboration work in the university. It involves balancing several students with different levels of knowledge in the appropriate groups to learn from others. In terms of fairness of student's educational skills among formed groups, however, forming groups of students is becoming difficult when the number of student is big and the heterogeneity of students is more complex. In this paper, author presented an approach, called heterogeneous grouping by genetic algorithm for (HGGA), to generate student formation based on heterogeneous grouping. Algorithm aims to achieve fairness among generated groups and compares the result with a random self-selecting method made by students. A case study is also exemplified in this study which was performed with a group of 85 students to demonstrate the scalability and ability of the approach. Based on our case study and experiment, the results are illustrated that the performance of HGGA is efficient at distributing and mixing heterogeneous students in the established groups.

Through this analysis, new families of exact travelling wave solutions of Hirota equation, (2 +1) -dimensional generalized Hirota and Zakharov equations can be obtained. The obtained, solutions include soliton and periodic solutions. The study reveals the power of the two proposed algorithms in handling evolution equations which allow us to do a complicated algebraic calculation.
